小さな世界旅行 A Small World Tour≫

昨日は、大阪は池田市の小林一三記念館にて、「英語でおもてなし講座」のお仲間との茶会に参加してまいりました。Yesterday I participated in a tea gathering held at the Kobayashi Ichizo Memorial Hall in Ikeda City, Osaka with my former 'Omotenashi in English' classmates.
ブルース濱名先生をお招きして、大阪・奈良在住の方々の企画で実現したイベントでした。This event was organised by three attendants from Osaka and Nara, and they invited our sensei Mr. Bruce Hamana.
こちらの記念館は雅俗山荘ともよばれ、明治から昭和にかけて阪急電鉄を創業、宝塚歌劇団を創設など多方面にわたり活躍された小林一三氏の旧邸です。This memorial hall is called Gazokusansou and is the former house of Kobayashi Ichizo, a businessman active during the Meiji and Showa Eras, who established The Hankyu Corporation, The Takarazuka Review Company, and more.
今回の茶会会場は「人我亭」、この他庭の奥には、椅子席の「即庵」や、２畳の茶室「費隠」もありました。The tea gathering was held at a tea room called Ningatei and there are two more tea rooms deeper within the garden; Sokuan teahouse which has chair seats, and a two tatami mat size teahouse called Hiin.
さて、今回の茶会は、桜の季節に私たちの再会が叶ったことへの、感謝がテーマでした。The tea gathering’s theme was to appreciate our reunion during the cherry blossoms season.
英語で茶道を、海外の方々に紹介することを学んで来た私たちのために、海外で見つけた器など、お道具はどれもユニークなものでした。As we learned how to introduce the Way of Tea in English, unique utensils and tools were prepared ... some from other countries.
ジャマイカからは木製花入れ、フィンランドからは銅製の建水と色鮮やかな浅茶碗(本来は何に使われるものなのでしょうね〜？)、ハンガリーからヘレンドの"ウィーンの薔薇"のお茶碗などなど… A flower vase from Jamaica, a copper waste-water container, and a vivid colored shallow bowl from Finland (I wonder for what these were originally used.), a Herend Vienna Roses bowl from Hungry, and more.
もちろん国内の作家さんの、モダンで素敵なものも色々！Of course there were some modern and lovely Japanese artists’ as well!
「まるで小さな世界旅行をしているよう」ブルース先生のおっしゃる通りです。'It's just like we are taking a small world tour' Bruce-sensei said. And I agree.
正客ブルース先生とご亭主の織り成す会話の中で、色々と学ばせていただきました。I learned many things while first guest Bruce-sensei and the host were making conversation.
裏千家の基本がありながらも、自由なアイデアと工夫、ユーモアに溢れた会でした。This tea gathering was based on the way of Urasenke but had free ideas, some unusual tea tools, and was full of humor.
あいにくの雨でしたが、庭中に舞う桜を愛でながら、うぐいすの声を聴きながら、私たちは笑いの尽きないお喋りと共に、春の豊かな時間を過ごさせて頂きました。Despite the rain, we had a fullfilling spring event, seeing the sakura petals dancing in the garden, hearing bush warblers’ song, and enjoying much laughter and chat.
待合の色紙の「謝茶」をしみじみと感じながら、散会となりました。We left the tea room appreciating the word 'gratitude tea' on the open card in the waiting room.
会を企画してくださったお三人さま、準備から片付けまで、本当にありがとうございました！Thank you very much to the three lady organizers, for all your hard work from the preparation to the cleanup!
