10月後半、ご縁があって韓国に行ってきました！I was lucky to be invited on a trip to Korea in late October.
３泊4日、明洞のど真ん中のホテルに滞在、美味しいものをこれでもか、というほど食べてきました！I stayed at a hotel in the middle of Myeongdong for three nights and ate so many delicious foods during this time!
初日、午後に到着して、夕飯には韓国芸能人もよく訪れるというチゲ専門店に。On the first day we arrived in the afternoon and had dinner at a jjigae (Korean hot pot) restaurant where celebrities often visit.
辛味がちょっと苦手な私ですが、定番の海鮮チゲが美味しかった！I’m not very good with spicy food, but the seafood stew was so good!
どこを旅しても茶道具を探してしまう私、2日目には利川にある青磁の窯元を訪れました。Whenever I travel I always look for tea utensils, so on the second day I visited a celadon kiln in Icheon.
美しい青磁に囲まれて、いくつか好みのものが見つかってラッキー！Surrounded by beautiful celadon, I was lucky to find some of favorite items!
このギャラリーのお兄さんオススメの冷麺は、人生で一番美味しい麺だったかも。The naengmyeon (Korean cold noodles) recommended by this gallery staff may have been the best noodles I have ever had in my life.
夜のサムギョプサルは、豚肉の厚みに迫力あったなぁ。The samgyeopsal (pork belly) that we ate that night was very thick with a powerful taste.
3日目のランチは韓定食。Lunch on the third day was a traditional Korean set meal.
日本では食べられない韓国野菜など、珍しい食材や料理は面白い。It was interesting to eat these rare food ingredients like these Korean vegetables, which we cannot easily find in Japan.
何度かカフェも楽しみました。We also enjoyed several cafes.
ふんだんに果肉を使ったパフェのボリュームは凄かったー！The size of my fruit filled parfait was amazing!
本場のチヂミとトッポギ、めちゃくちゃ辛かったけれど、美味しくてマッコリがグビグビ進みました。These real Korean pancakes and tteokbokki were rather spicy, but they were so delicious and went well with the Makgeolli.
最後の夜は、夜景と、もちろんコスメショッピングも存分に楽しみました！On the last night I fully enjoyed the night view and of course did some cosmetics shopping!
お土産のコーヒー、レッスン時に是非飲んでみてくださいね。Hope everyone enjoys my souvenir coffee for the classes.

台北旅行ハイライト Highlights in Taipei Trip

今回の台湾旅行では、台北を中心に女子旅的チェックポイントはいくつかおさえてきました。During my trip in Taiwan, I visited several sightseeing places for ladies around Taipei city.
２大リノべエリアの一つ、華山1914文化創意產業園區でカフェしたり。I enjoyed cafes in Hwasan 1914 Cultural Creative Park, one of the two major renovation areas.
臭豆腐の匂いが立ち込める夜市を歩いたり。Walked along the night market full of smelly-tofu stink.
九份で絶景を眺めながらスウィーツを楽しんだり。Enjoyed some sweets while looking at the superb view in Jiufen.
築150年のレトロ茶藝館 九份茶房でのティータイムは最高！Had oolong tea at a 150-year-old retro tea house in Jiufen, this was the best!
日本人オーナーが自らデザインされた茶器を自分へのお土産に購入。I bought a souvenir teapot and cup set designed by the Japanese owner of a tea house.
猴硐で猫と戯れたり(一つ前のブログを見てね。)。Hung out with cats in Houtong. (Please see my previous blog.)
小籠包を食べたり。Ate Xiao long bao.
迪化街、老舗が立ち並ぶ問屋街を歩いて、レトロでディープな世界とモダンでオシャレな店の共存に感動したり。Walked along Difua Street where wholesalers with long-established shops are lined up ... we were impressed by the coexistence of the deep traditional and modern stylish shops.
まるで日本の下北沢のような中山界隈で、面白いカフェやショップを巡ったり。Around the Zhongshan District, we saw some interesting cafes and shops, reminding us of the Shimokitazawa area in Japan.
でも、最終的に実感した台湾の一番の魅力は、人！でした。However, I finally realized that the most attractive thing about Taiwan was people!
私達が日本人だと確認すると、信じられないほど親切に接してくれるのです。When they recognize us as Japanese, we are treated incredibly kindly.
次回はもう少し涼しい季節に行きますね！I’ll return in the cooler season next time!

Cats! Cats! Cats!! 猫、ネコ、ねこ‼︎

先週、３泊４日で初の台湾旅行を楽しんできました。Last week, I enjoyed a four day trip to Taiwan for my first time.
台北を中心に、歴史的な建造物、夜市の屋台グルメなど、台湾らしさを感じられるスポットを巡ってきました。Around Taipei, I I visited some historical buildings and night market food stalls where I could feel the Taiwanese atmosphere.
そのうちの一つ、台北から60分で行けるネコ村、猴硐(ホウトン)を、ちょっとご紹介したいと思います。I'd like to introduce a place called Houtong, the Cat Village, which is 60 minutes away from Taipei.
もともとは炭鉱で栄えた村ですが、炭鉱の衰退と共に過疎化が進み、人と猫が共存する村として、近年SNSなどで注目を集めているのだとか。It was originally a coal mining village, but that industry declined and the area became depopulated, but in recent years the area has attracted attention on social networks as a village where cats and people live together.
私が訪れたのは土曜日、週末の割には観光客は多くありませんでした。I visited on a Saturday, but there weren't many tourists around on this weekend.
駅構内から町の至る所にまで、人慣れした猫がのびのびと寛いでいました。From the station yard and all over the town, domesticated wild cats were roaming and relaxing everywhere.
可愛い〜！！So cute!!
翌日は、友人の妹、キャシー・ワングさんのイラストレーション作品展を訪れました。The next day, I visited my friend’s sister Cathy Wang’s illustration exhibition.
浮世絵風に描かれた犬達がメインの作品でした。Her main works are dogs painted in ukiyoe style.
本来の浮世絵ではほとんど描かれない犬を、彼女の愛犬シャー・ペイをモデルに描くというユニークなスタイル。She has a unique style of drawing dogs that is rarely depicted in original ukiyoe, and modeled on her own dog Shah Pay.
そして、同時に展示されていた、彼女のアメリカ在住時代の猫の絵がまた印象的でした。Also on display were her paintings of cats from her days living in America and were equally impressive.
それぞれの猫の飼い主の職業に合わせて、ユーモアとストーリーのある作品群でした。It is a collection of work full of humor and stories tailored to each cat owner's occupation.
会場となった書店の店主は、大の日本贔屓ということで、日本の古本が沢山並べられた店内は居心地よい場所でした。The owner of the Denjo City Life Style Bookstore bookstore where the exhibition was held is a big fan of Japan, so it was a comfortable place for me with many used Japanese books on display.
台湾でWang姉妹に会えて、素晴らしい旅行となりました！Meeting the Wang sisters made our trip extra special!

東京タワー朝茶の湯 Morning Tea Gathering at Tokyo Tower

夏休み初日、東京タワーの「朝茶の湯」に参加しました。I attended a 'Morning Tea Gathering' event at Tokyo Tower on the first day of my summer vacation.
朝8:00、営業開始時間前に、タワー5階の特設”茶室”に案内されました。At 8am and before regular opening hours, I was guided to a special "tea room"on the 5th floor of the tower.
展望台のガラス窓沿いに畳が敷かれ、点前座には茶箱が置かれていました。Tatami mats were laid along the glass windows of the observation deck along with the Chabako tea box was set.
茶箱にはなんと、龍の墨絵が。On the tea box there was a dragon painted in ink!
この茶箱の龍を描かれた墨絵師がいらして、掛け軸の代わりに龍を描くというライブパフォーマンスも観ることができました！I was able to see a live performance in which the painter of the tea box dragon painted another dragon on paper to represent the hanging scroll!
そして、お菓子の銘は「芙蓉」。The name of the confectionary was 'Chinese mallow'.
正客のお茶碗は「祭り」。The name of the first guest’s bowl was “Festival”.
その他の茶碗は、萩焼、朝日焼、高取焼、備前焼など。Other tea bowls included were Hagi-yaki, Asahi-yaki, Takatori-yaki, Bizen-yaki, and more.
振り出しは、小さな東京タワー型のガラス瓶。'Furidashi' was the small Tokyo Tower shaped glass bottle.
クールで可愛くて、自由なスタイルの茶会は、夏ならではということでした。This cool, cute and free style tea gathering was unique and only in summer the host said.
それにしても、貸し切りの展望台で天空を楽しむ贅沢な時間、最高でした！Anyway, the luxurious time we spent in the observation deck enjoying the sky was fabulous!
畳席は8:15の回のみですが、椅子席もあります。Tatami spaces are only available at 8:15am but there are also chair seats.
また、外国語(英語、フランス語、スペイン語)による説明も対応しているそうです、いいですね。Also, they offer explanation in foreign languages like English, French, & Spanish.

足立美術館 Adachi Museum of Art

出雲を出発し島根の旅２日目は、足立美術館へ。After Izumo, on the second day of our Shimane Tour, we visited The Adachi Museum of Art.
アメリカの日本庭園専門誌が、日本国内1000箇所の庭園を対象に19年連続で1位に選んでいるのがこちらの庭園。This garden has been selected as the number one best garden for 19 years in a row by an American magazine specializing in Japanese gardens.
年中無休の美術館は、何時この広大な庭を、こんなにも完璧に手入れをしているのだろうか？So I wonder when does this 24/7 open museum take such perfect care of its vast garden?
秋季特別展示、横山大観の「紅葉」など一応見るべきポイントを押さえ… We also saw a special autumn exhibition, 'Autumn Leaves' by painter Yokoyama Taikan and among other things ...
新館の現代日本画コレクションでは、幾つもの魅力的な作品に出会えました。In the annex, There were many fascinating works in the contemporary Japanese painting collection.
でも私個人的には、魯山人館が一番楽しかったかな。However, I personally enjoyed The Rosanjin Hall most.
美術館を後にした私達は、駆け足で国宝松江城を訪れ、城下町を散策。After leaving the museum, we rushed to national treasure Matsue Castle and took a stroll through the castle town.
そして、この日の宿は、芥川龍之介、川端康成などをはじめ多くの文人墨客が訪れたという老舗中の老舗、皆美館。The inn we stayed at this day was Minamikan. It is one of the best, long-established inns with a guest list of many famous writers and calligraphers including Akutagawa Ryunosuke and Kawabata Yasunari.
なんと、先ほど触れたアメリカの日本庭園専門誌で、こちらの庭園は昨年4位。Surprisingly, their garden ranked fourth last year in the same American magazine specializing in Japanese gardens.
一日の間に、1000分の1位と4位の日本庭園を見る事ができるとは！I can't believe we could see the first and fourth ranked Japanese gardens in the same day!
宍道湖畔の枯山水庭園で、樹齢300年の松の木を眺める幸せを、しみじみ感じる夜でした。At night it felt very comfortable and relaxing to look at the 300-year-old pine tree in the dry landscape garden next to Lake Shinji.

出雲大社 Izumo Taisha Shrine

いつかは訪れたいと思っていた 出雲大社に、行ってきました！I finally went to Izumo Taisha Shrine where I have wanted to visit for a long time!
浜松から45分で静岡空港へ、そして70分のフライトと、出雲は意外と遠くはありませんでした。Izumo is not so far from Hamamatsu, only a 45 minute drive to Shizuoka Airport then a 70 minute flight.
旧暦十月の神無月は、現在の暦では11月後半、丁度私達が訪れた頃でした。Kannazuki is October on the lunar calendar but later in November using a regular calendar, and was just the time we visited.
この時期に全国の神々が出雲大社に会議の為にお集まりになるんですよね。It is said that gods from all over Japan gather at Izumo Taisha Shrine for a conference during this time of year.
出雲以外では、神様が不在になるので神無月、出雲地方では神在”月、なるほど〜。October is Kamiarizuki (Gods Existing Month) in the Izumo region but in other areas around Japan it is called Kannazuki (No Gods Month) as they’re absent and at Izumo.
ここに祀られる大国主大神様と共に神話「因幡の白兎」に登場するウサギに因んで、境内にも松並木の参道にも、可愛らしい兎像が沢山いてほっこり。There were many cute rabbit statues in the precincts of the shrine and along the approach road of pine trees. These rabbits appear in the myth 'Inaba no Shirousagi' with Okuninushi Okami.
ランチは本場の出雲そば。For lunch we had authentic Izumo Soba.
人気の田中屋さんに30分並んで、名物の”三色割子そば”をいただきました。We lined up at the popular Tanaka-ya Restaurant for 30 minutes and had the specialty 3 color Wariko soba.
やや太めでしっかりとした歯応えのそば、美味しくて腹持ち良し。The slightly thick and chewy soba was delicious and filling.
海沿いをドライブして出雲日御碕で夕陽を楽しんだ後、本日の宿「竹野屋」へ。After driving along the beach and enjoying the sunset at Izumo Hinomisaki, we headed to our accommodations at Takenoya Inn.
現在は竹内まりやがオーナーを務める創業145年のこちらの老舗、歴史ある趣を残しつつ、ご自身と夫山下達郎のグッズ販売部屋もあったりして、昭和生まれの私達を楽しませてくれました。This 145 year-old inn is owned by Mariya Takeuchi and has a nostalgic atmosphere. There is a room with a shop for herself and her husband Tatsuro Yamashita, who have entertained all of us who were born in the Showa Era.

Windchime Festival 風鈴まつり

5月から始まっている遠州三山風鈴まつりに行ってきました。I went to the Enshu Sanzan Wind Chime Festival which had started in May.
遠州三山とは、袋井市の法多山、油山寺、可睡斎のこと。Enshu Sanzan refers to the three temples of Hattasan, Yusanji, and Kasuisai in Fukuroi City.
私達が最初に訪れたのは、”目の霊山”油山寺。We first visited Yusanji Temple which is a holy mountain for eyes.
雨の平日とあって、人はまばらで静かです。As it was a rainy weekday, there were few people and it was quiet.
ゆっくりと山門から宝生殿まで歩きながら、瑞々しい青楓や鳥の声を楽しみました。We enjoyed the fresh green maple trees and the singing birds while walking from the gate to the Hojo-den.
道沿いに飾られた可愛いレトロな風鈴は、一つひとつ違うモチーフが手描きで描かれたものでした。Pretty retro wind chimes along the street were hand-drawn with different motifs.
次に訪れたのは、”厄除観音”法多山。Next we visited Hattasan, which is a Kannon for warding off evil.
こちらでは広い敷地内のあちこちで、色んな趣向を凝らして参拝者を楽しませています。Visitors can see various types of decorations in the spacious grounds.
法多山の風鈴まつりは、願いを書いた木の札とともに風鈴を吊るす、”願かけ風鈴”が特徴です。Hattasan’s wind chime festival features wind chimes that are hung with wooden tags on which visitors wishes are written.
参拝者の書いた沢山の願いが風になびいていました。Many of the wishes written by worshippers were fluttering in the wind.
沢山歩いた後は、「ごりやくカフェ」でランチ！After a lot of walking a lot we had lunch at Goriyaku Cafe!
そこには、私の誕生日のために用意されたサプライズが待っていました。At the cafe my friends prepared a surprise for my birthday.
期間限定のステキな御朱印もありましたよ〜！There were also lovely 'red ink stamps' for a limited time there!
なんて幸せな一日。What a happy day!

イースター•チャリティー茶会 Easter Charity Chakai

今年のイースターサンデーは、4/17、この日私はイースターチャリティー茶会に参加してきました。I participated in an Easter Charity Chakai on Easter Sunday April 17th of this year.
会場となったのは、京都にある築120年の町家を修復したゲストハウス、胡乱座です。It was held at a renovated 120 year old machiya in Kyoto called Uronza Guesthouse.
茶室はイースターにぴったり！Their tearoom was perfect for Easter!
襖の桜絵、飾り柱の桜が、春の気分を盛り上げてくれます。The painted cherry tree on the sliding doors and the decorative cherry trunk at the front were exciting to see.
イースターにちなんだ道具は、ほとんどが海外の別の用途に使われていたもので、いわゆる「見立て」でした。Most of the Easter-related utensils had been used for other purposes overseas and the style is called 'mitate' or 'adapted utensils'.
日本の伝統的な茶道の世界にはない、見立ての道具の取り合わせは本当に面白いのです！It was very interesting to see the arranged 'mitate' rather than the traditional Japanese ones!
参加者の注目を集めた、水注ぎに使われたカワセミは、イギリスのティーポットだそうです。Us attendants were attracted to the kingfisher teapot from the UK, which was used as a mizusashi.
ガラスの茶入れはカナダ製…こちらはシュガーポットかな？もともと何だろう？I wonder what the beautiful Canadian glass container was originally used for ... maybe a sugar pot?
お茶碗も興味深いものばかり。Every single tea bowl was interesting.
私は蝶がビッシリ描かれたお茶碗でいただきました。Mine was the one with lots of painted butterflies.
この日の為に作られたお菓子の銘は「希望」、お茶銘は「来福」。The sweets made especially for this event were named 'Hope' and the tea was named 'Future Happiness'.
お菓子と同様に、実は私も帯と帯締めはウクライナを、意識した色使いでした。As matching the sweets, I wore a yellow obi and a blue obijime which are the colors of Ukraine.
この日の収益金は、ウクライナを支援するポーランドの団体に送られるそうです。The money raised is going to be sent to a Polish group supporting the Ukraine.
主催者のコレット・モーリン先生のおもてなしセンスに感銘を受けました！The organizer Ms .Colette's sense of hospitality was very impressive!
素晴らしい平和なひと時を、ありがとうございました。I much appreciated this peaceful moment!

阿多古屋 Atagoya

先週末、浜松市天竜区にある古民家宿、阿多古屋に宿泊してきました。I stayed in a traditional old Japanese guesthouse called Atagoya in Tenryu Ward, Hamamatsu City.
浜松の中心から約一時間、浜松市民にはバーベキューや川遊びで人気のスポット、阿多古川沿いにあります。It’s about an hour from the center of Hamamatsu, located along the Atako River, which is a popular spot with Hamamatsu people for barbecuing.
到着した私達を出迎えて下さったオーナーの林さんは、暗くなる前に、親切丁寧に建物の内外を案内してくださいました。The building owner Mr. Hayashi welcomed us and kindly guided us around the building before it got dark.
外観は150年以上もの歴史を感じさせる趣きのある佇まい！From outside the building looks over 150 years old and has a quaint atmosphere!
古き良きものは残しつつ、屋内の水回り設備はモダンにリノベーションされ…なんといっても部屋数の多さと広さに驚きました！While the good old parts of the place have been kept, inside the plumbing has been moderately renovated, and I was especially surprised at the number spacious rooms!
宿泊定員は、最大15人だそうです。The accommodations have a capacity of 15 people.
師走の曇り空のこの日、寒さを心配しましたが、暖房設備はバッチリで、快適そのものです！Though I was worried about whether it would be warm enough on this cloudy day in December, the actual heating system was perfect, and inside was very comfortable!
ゆったりとしたソファと大型ロールスクリーン、映画鑑賞を楽しむこともできます。You can enjoy watching movies on the big screen while sitting on the large sofa.
もっとも、私達は持ち込んだオードブルセットとワインを楽しみつつ、お喋りとトランプで世は更けていきました。But we spent all night chatting and playing cards with hors d'oeuvre and wine.
次回は、素晴らしいキッチンを備えた別館で、プロ級の腕前の友人に料理講座を開いてもらおうか… In the future, I may ask a friend who is professionally skilled to hold a cooking class in the annex which has an excellent kitchen.
すでに楽しみになってます。I’m already looking forward to it.

櫻本坊お茶会 Tea Gathering at Sakuramotobo

11/20、奈良県吉野町の櫻本坊へ、天武天皇御神像献茶式・お茶会に行ってまいりました。On November 20th, I attended a tea-offering ceremony for Emperor Tenmu’s statue and a tea gathering at Sakuramotobo in Yoshino, Nara prefecture.
櫻本坊は、約1300年前に天武天皇により創設された、神仏習合の修行道場です。Sakuramoto-bo is a Shinto-Buddhist training school founded 1,300 years ago by Emperor Tenmu.
敷地内には、天武天皇の夢に現れたという、シンボルの見事なしだれ桜があります。On the premises, there is a beautiful symbolic weeping cherry tree which is said to have appeared in Emperor Tenmu's dream.
本堂とその脇の建物には、重要文化財を含む様々な寺宝が祀られていました。Various temple treasures including some important cultural properties are enshrined in the main hall and an adjacent building.
本堂で、天武天皇御神像を拝み(通常非公開、この時期のみご開扉)、献茶式に参列した後、お茶会を催されるお部屋へと案内されました。In the main hall I attended the tea-offering ceremony for the statue of Emperor Tenmu (it's usually closed, but open only this time of year) and was later guided to another room.
全開にした窓からは11月とは思えない陽射しが降り注ぎ、所々紅葉した辺りの山の木々が見下ろせました。Through the open window sunlight poured in, which made it seem unlike November, and we could see trees on the nearby mountains some of which had turned red.
本席の主菓子は「峰紅葉」、お抹茶は自然農園製、苦味の効いたパワフルな味わいでした。The main confectionery in the first room was called, 'Colored Mountaintop' and the matcha was from an organic farm and tasted bitter and powerful.
昼食は「やまと薬膳御弁当」、目にも美しく、オーガニック野菜の旨味が凝縮されていて、体が浄化されるようでした。For lunch, we had Yamato Yakusen Obento which was beautiful to the eyes and full of delicious organic vegetables ... it seemed to purify the body.
さて、二席目の100畳の広間は、ぐるりとガラスの窓に囲まれていて、まるで森林の中に浮いているような清々しい空間でした。The second tea gathering was held in 100 tatami room surrounded in glass windows and was a refreshing space, almost like floating in a forest.
おもてなしの心、季節感、色んな要素が、道具や花やお菓子、茶室中に散りばめられていて、貴重なお茶碗でお茶をいただき、特別な一日となりました。A spirit of hospitality, sense of the season, and various elements permeated the tea room, with flowers, sweets, and matcha in cherished tea bowls ... it was a special day for me.
長い歴史と荘厳な伝統を引き継いで行くには、並々ならぬエネルギーと努力を要するかと思いますが…I think it takes extraordinary energy and effort to carry on this long history and solemn tradition ...
「夢を夢で終わらせない」ー櫻本坊のメッセージには、天武天皇から脈々と引き継がれてきた、強い意志が込められているようです。“I won't let this end as just a dream” — Sakuramotobo’s message contains a strong will that has been handed down from Emperor Tenmu.
またここに戻ってきたい、そう思う場所でした。It is a place where I want to return.

さて、二席目の100畳の広間は、ぐるりとガラスの窓に囲まれていて、まるで森林の中に浮いているような清々しい空間でした。The second tea gathering was held in 100 tatami room surrounded in glass windows and was a refreshing space, almost like floating in a forest.
おもてなしの心、季節感、色んな要素が、道具や花やお菓子、茶室中に散りばめられていて、貴重なお茶碗でお茶をいただき、特別な一日となりました。A spirit of hospitality, sense of the season, and various elements permeated the tea room, with flowers, sweets, and matcha in cherished tea bowls ... it was a special day for me.
長い歴史と荘厳な伝統を引き継いで行くには、並々ならぬエネルギーと努力を要するかと思いますが…I think it takes extraordinary energy and effort to carry on this long history and solemn tradition ...
「夢を夢で終わらせない」ー櫻本坊のメッセージには、天武天皇から脈々と引き継がれてきた、強い意志が込められているようです。“I won't let this end as just a dream” — Sakuramotobo’s message contains a strong will that has been handed down from Emperor Tenmu.

Kasia Mochi, a Polish illustrator and a writer for magazines living in Berlin published a book about life in Japan last November. 現在ベルリンを拠点に、雑誌のイラストなどの創作活動をするポーランド人カシャ・モヒが、昨年11月、日本での生活について１冊の本を出版しました。
It’s already been over three years since she left, but she once lived in Hamamatsu with her family. 彼女が日本を発ってもう3年になりますが、かつてはご家族と一緒に浜松に住んでいました。
When they visited Japan for the first time her daughter Laura was very young and this book is written from her perspective. 初めて日本を訪れた当時まだ幼かった、お嬢さんのラウラの目線を通して日本を描いたようです。
Everything about the food, language, and customs was totally new and incomprehensible for her. 言語、食事、習慣の全てが、彼女にとって初めて出会う不可解な文化でした。
The book is a guide to a fascinating country and also a telling of the emotions and experiences of a child trying to find herself in this unknown reality. 非常に魅力的な国、日本について描いた本であるだけでなく、未知の現実の中での感情や経験を通して、ひとりの子供が自分自身を見つけて行くためのガイドブックともいえるでしょう。
The book sent to my home in Hamamatsu City was written in Polish. 先日、浜松の私のもとに送られてきたこの本は、ポーランド語で書かれたものです。
Kasia’s illustrations are very unique and amazingly beautiful!! カーシャの描くイラストは非常にユニークで美しい！！
The book is interesting for us Japanese to see how foreign people view Japan and Japanese culture, この本は、外国人の目に日本文化がどう映るのか、という意味で私達には興味深い一方で、
And on the other hand it should stir up the imagination of people who don’t know much about Japan yet. まだ日本を知らない人々の想像力も掻き立てるでしょう！
So I am expecting an English version to be published too! そういう意味では英語版の出版が待ち遠しいですね！

モトさんと絵本の店キルヤ Moto-san & Bookstore Kirja

先週、額装の店Page-1さんで、パリから一時帰国中だというアーティスト、”モトさん”こと前原本光さんと、偶然お会いしました。Last week by chance I met Mr. Motomitsu Maehara 'Moto-san' who has currently returned to Japan from Paris at Page 1 framers store.
ミュージシャン、DJ、コラージュ作家、絵本作家、詩人、翻訳家… 沢山の肩書きを持った彼は、フレンドリーで飄々とした方でした。He is a musician, a DJ, a collage artist, a picture book writer, a poet, and translator .... with so many hats, he is very friendly with a laidback attitude.
フランスのコロナ状況が厳しい中、現在はご出身地の浜松でイベントの企画や創作活動をされているようです。Due to the severe Covid-19 situation in France, Moto-san is doing creative activities and organizing events in his home town of Hamamatsu City.
その中のひとつ、年明け1月22日(土)には、映画「ひびきあうせかい」上映会を、主演の青柳拓次さんをお招きして木下惠介記念館にて開催するそうです。One of the events is a movie 'Resonance' which is going to be shown with lead actor Takuji Aoyagi on January 23rd next year at the Keisuke Kinoshita Memorial Museum.

旅する音楽家と、人々の声、自然の音、都市のノイズまでもが共鳴する無国籍ハーモニーを描いた、ドキュメンタリー映画なんですって。This is a documentary about a traveling musician who makes borderless harmonies using people’s voices, sounds of nature, and even noises from the city which resonate with each other.
「観る者の五感が開かれていく、新感覚アート映画」のようです、面白そう! 'A novel art movie that opens up the viewer's five senses.' sounds very interesting!
13:30と17:30の二部制で、各20名限定です。There are two shows at 13:30 and 17:30 which are limited to 20 people each.

さて、モトさんの絵本にも興味が湧いた私は、彼の絵本を求めて絵本の店キルヤさんへ。As I became interested in his picture books I went to the bookstore Kirja to get one.
ちょうどクリスマスブックフェアということで、店内には可愛いデコレーションとクリスマスブックが沢山！It's just the time of the Christmas Book Fair so there are many cute decorations and Christmas books inside!
モトさんの「動物」「魚」「鳥」シリーズ、7ヶ国語で生き物の名前が紹介されていて、子供たちへのプレゼントに良いな〜 Moto-san’s series of Animaux, Poissons, and Oiseaux are written in seven languages and introduce names of each creature ... really good gifts for kids!
きっと、コラージュアートの絵本は、アート作品として大人がお気に入りの場所に飾りたいものかもしれないけれど。Actually adults will want to decorate interiors with the books too as they're like collage art.
私はÉcoute la musique (音楽が聞こえる？)という本を自分に選びました。I chose a book called 'Écoute la musique' for myself.
雲、雨、月、秋、雪… 自然の中にある「無音の音楽」という感性…何か大事なものに気づかされた思いです。Clouds, rain, the moon, autumn, snow ... I was impressed by his sense of 'silence music in nature' and felt like I learned something important.
その他、こんな可愛いクリスマスブックも、教室のデコレーションとして買ってきました。I also bought this cute Christmas book as a decoration for my lesson room.
キルヤさんでは、1月7日から2月末まで、モトさんが期間限定のカフェ、Cafe the eelをオープンします。Moto-san will open 'Cafe the eel' for a limited time from January 7th until the end of February at the Kirja bookstore.
そちらも行ってみなくちゃ！I’d like to go there again!

ギャルリ百草&モザイクタイルミュージアム Gallery Momogusa & Mosaic Tile Museum

先日、岐阜県多治見市まで小旅行を楽しんできました。I took a short day trip to Tajime in Gifu Prefecture the other day.
最初に訪れたのは、モザイクタイルミュージアム。First we visited the Mosaic Tile Museum.
町中に突然現れる、粘土山のような外観は、地場産業のシンボル的存在になっているようです。The sudden appearance of the mountain-like, clay building seems to be symbolic of the local industry.
こちらの独創的な建物の設計は藤森照信氏、2018年に公開された、天竜区の秋野不矩美術館の茶室をデザインされた方です。The very unique building was designed by Mr. Terunobu Fujimori who also created the tearoom at the Akino-no-Fuku Museum in Tenryu Ward.
四階まである展示室には、昔懐かしい風呂場や洗濯場、現代住宅でのタイルを使ったデザインのショールームまで、見所は色々。There are various things to see on the four floors such as old-style bathrooms and washrooms, and a showroom with the latest modern room designs.

ランチは、セルバチコ・キドグチで、繊細で美しい、和風イタリアンを。For lunch, we visited Selvatico Kidoguchi for a beautiful Japanese fine Italian course meal.
フレッシュな魚をふんだんに使ったコース料理、最高でした！The meal included a lot of fresh fish and tasted excellent!

店内はテーブル毎に個室のような作りで、新型コロナ対策も万全！Each table in the restaurant was set in an individual room to protect against COVID-19 and this made us feel more comfortable.
さて、今回の旅の目玉である「ギャルリ百草」にようやく到着。Lastly, we arrived at Gallery Momogusa, which was the aim of our trip.

現在1階の企画展では「暮らしの造形X」、二人のアーティストによるガラスと鉄など様々な素材の作品が、部屋中の畳の上に置かれています。The current exhibition 'Formative Art X in Life' is on the first floor and exhibits artworks made from glass, iron, and other materials and are placed all over the tatami mats.
ゆっくり歩いたり座ったりしながら、ひとつひとつ見てまわりました。I carefully looked at each item while walking and sitting in the room.
奥にはお茶室もありました…どんな茶会が開催されるのでしょう？There is a Japanese tearoom ... how it seems like a tea gathering is being held here?
2階の常設展は、ギャラリーオーナーの安藤雅信氏の陶磁器などの作品、奥様明子氏の布製品等が展示販売されています。ˆn the permanent exhibition rooms on the second floor, the ceramics of owner Mr. Masanobu Ando and the cloth products of his wife Mrs. Akiko Ando are exhibited and sold.
作品を手に取ってみるだけで、いやこのギャラリーに入って呼吸するだけで、体が浄化されてエネルギーが湧いてきました。I felt as if I got purified and filled with energy touching those items, or maybe it was just being in the gallery and breathing the air.
訪れる価値あり！素晴らしい小旅行でした。！Worth visiting!! It was an excellent day trip.

手の愉悦展 Contemporary Crafts of Shizuoka Prefecture

先週金曜日、静岡文化芸術大学ギャラリーで「〜革新する工芸〜手の愉悦展」が始まりました。Last Friday the 'Contemporary Crafts of Shizuoka: The Value of Handwork' exhibition started at Shizuoka University of Art and Culture.
県文化プログラム2020フェスティバルの一環で、静岡県在住もしくは出身など、静岡県にゆかりのある33人のアーティストによるる作品展です。This is a part of the Shizuoka Prefecture Cultural Programs 2020 Festival and these 33 participating artists are from Shizuoka Prefecture or living in here now.
20代の若手から80代の長老までの、幅広いジャンルの工芸品が一堂に会しました！A variety of crafts made by a wide range of artists from young people in their 20s to elders in their 80s are exhibited together!
陶芸、染色、漆芸、金工、ジュエリー、木工、ガラス、七宝、硯など… Pottery, dyeing, lacquerwork, goldwork, jewelry, woodwork, glasswork, shippo, ink stone, and more are on display.
会場の一番奥右手の花文大壺「梅」は、昨年 日本伝統工芸展 日本工芸会総裁賞を受賞された望月集氏の作品です。The plum flower vase on the inner right hand side of the venue is the work of Mr. Mochizuki Shu who has won the President's Award of the Japan Crafts Association at the Japanese Traditional Crafts Exhibition last year.
和紙の千切り絵の様な風合いの紅梅が目を引きます。I was attracted to the red plum flowers that look like Japanese paper collages.
その隣りの作品が東京芸大名誉教授の作品で、そのまた隣の「染付花器 金魚」は沢山の受賞歴をお持ちの小枝真人氏の作品でした。The next piece was the work of a Professor Emeritus Mr. Makoto Saeda of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and his work 'Dyeing Flower Vessel Goldfish' has won many awards.
ホワイト&ブルーの水紋と金魚が印象的でした。The combination of white and blue with the ripples and goldfish were very impressive.
カセットテープと金箔を素材としたネックレスというユニークな作品もありました！There was another unique necklaces piece made of cassette tape and gold leaf!
実際に音楽を録音した、昔懐かしいカセットテープを編み針で編んだということで、タイトル「音の記憶」に納得です。I understood the title 'Memory of Sound' because they were hand-knitted old-style cassette tapes that actually had recorded music long time ago.
みなさんも良くご存じの染色家 芹沢圭介氏のお弟子さんで、今展覧会で最年長者、山内武志氏の「屏風 幾何文様型染和紙貼り交ぜ」もありました。There was also 'Byobu Geometrical Pattern Japanese Paper' by the oldest artist in this exhibition Mr. Takeshi Yamauchi who is a disciple of well known dyer Keisuke Serizawa.
遠州天龍焼きの山口剛氏の、天の河を連想させる花器は和モダンで幻想的でした。The flower vase made by Mr. Go Yamaguchi of Enshu Tenryu-yaki is reminiscent of the Milky Way Galaxy and is modern and fantastic.
この他にも、つい座りたくなるロッキングチェアや、まるでマジックのようなガラス工芸のボトルin ボトル、美しい七宝、漆芸… Other than these works there was a rocking chair that made me feel like sitting down, a musical looking glass craft bottle-in-bottle, a beautiful shippo, and some lacquer artworks ...
見ていて飽きない美しさです！Everything was a feast for the eyes and you'll never tire of looking at these craftworks!
こちらの工芸展、10/25(日)まで10:30〜18:00、無休で開催中です。入場無料です。The craft exhibition is open from 10:30am to 6:00pm until Sunday, October 25th and admission is free.

先週金曜日、静岡文化芸術大学ギャラリーで「〜革新する工芸〜手の愉悦展」が始まりました。Last Friday the 'Contemporary Crafts of Shizuoka: The Value of Handwork' exhibition started at Shizuoka University of Art and Culture.
県文化プログラム2020フェスティバルの一環で、静岡県在住もしくは出身など、静岡県にゆかりのある33人のアーティストによるる作品展です。This is a part of the Shizuoka Prefecture Cultural Programs 2020 Festival and these 33 participating artists are from Shizuoka Prefecture or living in here now.
20代の若手から80代の長老までの、幅広いジャンルの工芸品が一堂に会しました！A variety of crafts made by a wide range of artists from young people in their 20s to elders in their 80s are exhibited together!
陶芸、染色、漆芸、金工、ジュエリー、木工、ガラス、七宝、硯など… Pottery, dyeing, lacquerwork, goldwork, jewelry, woodwork, glasswork, shippo, ink stone, and more are on display.
会場の一番奥右手の花文大壺「梅」は、昨年 日本伝統工芸展 日本工芸会総裁賞を受賞された望月集氏の作品です。The plum flower vase on the inner right hand side of the venue is the work of Mr. Mochizuki Shu who has won the President's Award of the Japan Crafts Association at the Japanese Traditional Crafts Exhibition last year.
和紙の千切り絵の様な風合いの紅梅が目を引きます。I was attracted to the red plum flowers that look like Japanese paper collages.
その隣りの作品が東京芸大名誉教授の作品で、そのまた隣の「染付花器 金魚」は沢山の受賞歴をお持ちの小枝真人氏の作品でした。The next piece was the work of a Professor Emeritus Mr. Makoto Saeda of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and his work 'Dyeing Flower Vessel Goldfish' has won many awards.
ホワイト&ブルーの水紋と金魚が印象的でした。The combination of white and blue with the ripples and goldfish were very impressive.
カセットテープと金箔を素材としたネックレスというユニークな作品もありました！There was another unique necklaces piece made of cassette tape and gold leaf!
実際に音楽を録音した、昔懐かしいカセットテープを編み針で編んだということで、タイトル「音の記憶」に納得です。I understood the title 'Memory of Sound' because they were hand-knitted old-style cassette tapes that actually had recorded music long time ago.
みなさんも良くご存じの染色家 芹沢圭介氏のお弟子さんで、今展覧会で最年長者、山内武志氏の「屏風 幾何文様型染和紙貼り交ぜ」もありました。There was also 'Byobu Geometrical Pattern Japanese Paper' by the oldest artist in this exhibition Mr. Takeshi Yamauchi who is a disciple of well known dyer Keisuke Serizawa.
遠州天龍焼きの山口剛氏の、天の河を連想させる花器は和モダンで幻想的でした。The flower vase made by Mr. Go Yamaguchi of Enshu Tenryu-yaki is reminiscent of the Milky Way Galaxy and is modern and fantastic.
この他にも、つい座りたくなるロッキングチェアや、まるでマジックのようなガラス工芸のボトルin ボトル、美しい七宝、漆芸… Other than these works there was a rocking chair that made me feel like sitting down, a musical looking glass craft bottle-in-bottle, a beautiful shippo, and some lacquer artworks ...
見ていて飽きない美しさです！Everything was a feast for the eyes and you'll never tire of looking at these craftworks!
こちらの工芸展、10/25(日)まで10:30〜18:00、無休で開催中です。入場無料です。The craft exhibition is open from 10:30am to 6:00pm until Sunday, October 25th and admission is free.

自作のお茶碗 Self-Made Tea Bowls

今から2ヶ月ほど前、遠州天龍焼の山口剛先生の陶芸教室を受講してきました。About two months ago I took a pottery class with Mr. Go Yamaguchi at his Enshu Tenryuyaki studio.
昨日はその時参加した仲間と一緒に、自作の作品を使ってお抹茶を楽しみました。Yesterday, I had matcha tea using our self-made tea bowls with the friends that attended the pottery class.
主菓子は、浜松市で人気の老舗巌邑堂さんの上生菓子を特別注文で。The main sweets were special order high-quality Jo-Namagashi from Ganyudo which is one of the most popular traditional confectionary in Hamamatsu City.
はさみ菊など、カラフルで技巧を凝らした、季節感を大切にした日本の和菓子、美しい〜！The sweets are types of Hasamigiku, skillfully crafted with a good colour sense of the season ... truly beautiful Japanese confectionaries!
コロナ対策として、テーブルはテラスにセッティング。Considering the risks during this Covid 19 time, I set the table on our terrace.
テーブルクロスは、30年ほど昔に旅先で買ったインドのバティックプリント、なかなか良い雰囲気を出してくれました。I used an Indian batik tablecloth which I had bought 30 years ago while traveling and it help create a nice atmosphere.
さて、私の窯変茶碗ですが、思いがけない柄が表面に浮かび上っていました。My yohen tea bowl had an unexpected figure on the surface.
窯で焼いている最中に、土の中の成分が出てきたのか、釉薬が何かを起こしたのか！？ Maybe some materials in the clay appeared on the surface while it was being fired it in the kiln? Or something happened with the glaze?
鳥の様にも流木のようにも見えます… 銘を何にしようか、考え中です。It looks like a bird or some driftwood ... I’m still thinking of what to name my bowl.
友達の作品、淡雪釉茶碗はその名の通り、ふわりっとした白が印象的でいいなぁ。My friend’s bowl is called Awayuki-yu (light snow) and is very impressive ... looks just like it has a light covering of snow.
月白釉茶碗は、透き通る緑がかった水色の清涼感、飽きがきません。I also really like the other Geppaku-yu tea bowl as its translucent greenish-light blue pale is stunningly beautiful.
自作のお茶碗で一服、コロナ禍でも心穏やかになるひと時でした。During this Covid-19 pandemic, it was nice to have a calm moment with friends to enjoy some tea in our bowls.

最近の猛暑、コロナがなくとも外出自粛したくなります。It’s been so scorching hot outside that I don’t want to go out, without even considering the Covid-19 problem.
そんな私はおうちでチクチクと縫い物に勤しんでいます。So I’m staying home and having fun sewing.
先日ネットで見つけた手ぬぐいのお店「あひろ屋」さんには、それはそれは素敵な柄の手ぬぐいがありまして、物作りの素材にぴったりです！The other day I found a tenugui traditional towel shop named Ahiroya on the web and they sell many lovely tenugui designs that are perfect for making things!

今回は、「輪繋ぎ」柄を使って、茶籠バッグを作ってみました。I made a tea set basket bag using a 'watsunagi' design this time.
「輪繋ぎ」は、すべての輪が繋がり「円満具足」を象徴する縁起のよい柄だそうです。It is said that ’watsunagi’ or 'linked rings' is a good luck design and a symbol of 'Enmangusoku' or a 'complete harmonious situation'.
「露草」柄では、シンプルなあずま袋を縫いました。I also made a shopping bag using a 'tsuyukusa' or 'dayflower' tenugui.
二箇所直前縫いするだけ、裏地無しで簡単です。This involves only simple sewing, stitching two straight lines without a liner.
この他に、手ぬぐい以外の素材、例えば着物や浴衣のハギレでも、茶籠バッグをいくつか作りました。Aside from the tenugui, I made a few tea set basket bags using other materials like kimono rest clothes and yukata.
なかなかいい感じ、満足。They look nice too and I felt pleased.
あひろ屋さんの手ぬぐい、布好きな私には、使い道がなくても側に置いておきたい柄ばかりです！Ahiroya is an interesting shop for fabric lovers like me. I’ll keep these cute tenugui beside me even if I have no plans to use them.

ブリランテスズキ Brilliant Il Suzuki Salone

先週末、ひっそりと私のバースデーを祝いに、主人とブリランテスズキさんにお邪魔してきました。Last weekend I snuck out with my husband for a birthday dinner at Brilliant Il Suzuki Salone.
予約の電話で「現在４名様の予約があり、鈴木様おふたりで満席になります」と言われびっくり。I was a little surprised when I was told that the restaurant will be full with us two and only 4 other customers.
そう、6席だけの小さなレストランなんですね。Yes, this is a tiny restaurant with only 6 seats.
私たちは、地元の食材やイタリア・フランスの食材も活かした７品のコースをいただきました。We had a seven-course menu using local, Italian, and French ingredients.
地元のかんかん娘(とうもろこし)の冷製スープからはじまり… The starter was cold soup made with local Kankan Musume corn.
フレッシュなままヨーロッパから届くのは珍しいという、太くて立派な白アスパラガス、ポルチーニ茸… It seems rare that they can use these large white asparagus and porcini mushrooms delivered from fresh from Europe.
メインは鹿児島産の牛肉でしたが、全体的に魚介類を使った料理が多い印象でした。I had an impression that their dishes are made mostly using fish, however the main course was beef from Kagoshima.
蒸し暑いこの時期、冷製仕立ての米粉の麺に野菜とカラスミの相性は最高！
The cold rice flour noodle matched the vegetables and dried mullet roe very well and it was perfect for this hot and humid season!
平打ちパスタ、煮詰めたシャンパンと帆立クリームに、たっぷりふわふわな削りトリュフのトッピング…この日の私の一番、かなぁ。The flat pasta in Champagne & scallop cream sauce with fluffy shaved truffles on top was my favourite dish of the evening for me.
最後のデザートのプレートには、イタリア語で"Buon Compleanno Hiroe"(お誕生日おめでとう)のメッセージが！On the last dessert plate there was a message saying, 'Buon Compleanno Hiroe' - Happy Birthday Hiroe in Italian!
何もかもが素晴らしく繊細で、美しく、美味しい！！Everything was exquisite, beautiful, and tasted amazingly delicious!
オーナーシェフと奥様は、とても気さくで何でも気軽に教えてくださいますよ〜 The owner chef and his wife were very friendly and answered our questions frankly.
もう一つ、このお店の特徴は、食器が沖縄の陶器を使っていること。Another feature of this restaurant is that food is served on pottery from Okinawa.
入り口が沖縄の作家さんを中心に陶器やガラスの器、雑貨、そしてグルテンフリーのお菓子・米粉パン、お惣菜などを販売しているショップです。At the entrance is a shop that sells pottery and glass tableware from Okinawa, assorted knick-knacks, gluten-free snacks, rice-flour bread, and more.
普段よりちょっと特別なディナーにオススメです！I recommend this restaurant for a special dinner plan!

あじさい寺 Hydrangea Temple

今が盛りのあじさいを見に、周智郡森町の極楽寺、別名あじさい寺に行ってきました。I visited Gokurakuji Temple (commonly called Hydrangea Temple) in Mori Town to see the fully-bloomed hydrangea flowers.
この寺は、養老年間(717〜724)僧行基によって開創されたといわれています。It's said this temple was built during the Yorou Era (from 717 to 724) by monk Gyoki.
僧行基が「極楽へゆく人の乗る紫の雲の色なるあじさいの花」と詠んだことにちなんで、境内の表参道から裏山の木立まで紫陽花が植えられたとか。The hydrangeas were planted on the approach to the main building and at the back mountain as monk Gyoki had written in his poem, 'Souls on their way to heaven ride on a purple cloud, looking like the hydragea flower'.
その数、境内にあじさい30種以上、13,000株だそうです！There are over 30 different kinds of flowers, with over 13,000 plants!
さすが「あじさい寺」、庭中にあじさいが溢れています。I agreed with the garden's name, as the place was really full of hydrangeas.
本堂前のアナベルでしょうか、真っ白な花が涼しげです。The white flowers in front of the main building were probably Annabelles and looked nice and refreshing.
そして、裏山に散歩道がありますが、ここのあじさいが美しい！And there were even more beautiful looking hydrangeas along the path at the back mountain!
紫外線が届きにくいのでしょう、本堂前のあじさいよりも、色鮮やかで、コンディションの良い花が、小道の両サイドに先連なっていました。Both sides of the path were full of vivid looking flowers in better condition ... I guess it's because they aren't exposed to UV rays and thus not damaged.
そうそう、入場券の代わりの小さいサイズの絵馬には、あじさいと今年の干支のネズミが描かれていますよ。By the way,ena plates were given at the entrance instead of admission tickets and they were painted with a hydrangea and a rat as it's the Year of the Rat!
毎年訪れて、この入場券の収集家もいらっしゃるとか。I heard that some people collect these ena.
来年はあえて雨の日に来てみようかな。I’m thinking of visiting this place on a rainy day next year.
雨に打たれたあじさい、より鮮やかな彩りかも。The hydrangeas might look even more beautiful and colourful in the rain.

ふじのくに茶の都ミュージアム Tea Museum Shizuoka

先日、島田市にあるお茶のミュージアムに行ってきました。I visited the Tea Museum in Shimada City the other day.
こちらは世界の茶の歴史や文化、日本と静岡のお茶産業について学べる博物館で、小堀遠州ゆかりの庭園と茶室もあり、とっても楽しみにしていました。I had been looking forward to learning about world tea culture and history, the tea industry in both Japan and Shizuoka Prefecture, and the garden and tea room designed by Kobori Enshu.
館内には、数えきれないほどの種類の世界の茶の展示と、トルコ、中国、チベットなどの国々の喫茶室が再現されていました。Countless types of tea from all over the world are displayed with Turkish, Chinese, and Tibetan tea rooms reproduced within the building.
企画展として現在「ヨーロッパの茶の文化」も開催中でした。A temporary European Tea Culture exhibition was also held.
ロシアや中近東で古くから湯沸かし器、給茶器として使われている美しいサモワールが、沢山展示されていました。Many many Samovars used as kettles and tea dispensers were also displayed.
アンティーク好きなコレクターにはたまらないでしょうね。Antique collectors will be excited to see these.
さて、こちらの博物館の魅力のひとつは、江戸時代の大名茶人である小堀遠州が、手掛けた茶室と庭園が再現されていることです。One of the attractions at the museum is a reproduction tearoom and garden designed by Kobori Enshu. He was a Japanese feudal lord and master of tea ceremony.
私たちは、縦目楼(しょうもくろう)と呼ばれる茶室でお抹茶を点てていただきました。We were served matcha tea in the Shomokurou Tea Room.
自分でお抹茶を点てて飲む体験もできるようですよ。You can make the matcha tea by yourself if you so desire.
お茶菓子は梅の花の形で可愛らしい「此の花」でした。The sweet we had was called Konohana and was in a cute plum blossom shape.
一番奥の数寄屋造りの部屋は、窓が多い珍しいつくりで、イベント等で使われるようです。The room in the very back of the building was a rare Sukiyatsukuri design with many windows and is to be used for events.
この他、茶摘み体験、手もみ体験、抹茶挽き体験など、いろんな楽しみ方ができるところでした。There are many things to enjoy like tea picking, hand-rolling tea, grinding matcha, and more.
この日は曇り空のため富士山はうっすらとしか見えませんでしたが、晴れの日には鮮やかな景色も見えそうですよ！This day was cloudy so we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji clearly but on sunny days you will be able to enjoy a great view!

先日、島田市にあるお茶のミュージアムに行ってきました。I visited the Tea Museum in Shimada City the other day.
こちらは世界の茶の歴史や文化、日本と静岡のお茶産業について学べる博物館で、小堀遠州ゆかりの庭園と茶室もあり、とっても楽しみにしていました。I had been looking forward to learning about world tea culture and history, the tea industry in both Japan and Shizuoka Prefecture, and the garden and tea room designed by Kobori Enshu.
館内には、数えきれないほどの種類の世界の茶の展示と、トルコ、中国、チベットなどの国々の喫茶室が再現されていました。Countless types of tea from all over the world are displayed with Turkish, Chinese, and Tibetan tea rooms reproduced within the building.
企画展として現在「ヨーロッパの茶の文化」も開催中でした。A temporary European Tea Culture exhibition was also held.

1月30日、ザ・ラプソディ・ツアーを観に名古屋ドームに行ってきました！I went to the Nagoya Dome on Januray 30th to see The Queen Rhapsody Tour!
フレディなきクィーン、アダム・ランバートとのプロジェクトって、一体どんなだろう、と思いながら…。I was wondering how Queen and Adam Lambert would work without Freddie ...
しかし、私が想像していた違和感などどこえやら。アダム・ランバートは素晴らしく良かった！Actually Adam Lambert was amazing, beyond anything I could have imagined.
「僕はフレディのファンなんだ。君たちもそうでしょう？だから、僕は君たちと同じ。」“I’m a Freddie fan. You’re a Freddie fan too right? We’re the same. “
フレディをリスペクトし、あくまで自分は一ファンだという姿勢、好感が持てますね。He respects Freddie and says he’s a one of his fans too ... I like his attitude.
フレディの圧倒的なパフォーマンスやカリスマ性は別物と考えて、シンプルにクィーンの名曲に浸ってきました。I consider Freddie’s charisma and flamboyant personality a different thing, so on this day I was simply absorbed in Queen’s music.
ゴージャスな舞台装置と映像、ライティングと共に、次々と懐かしいヒット曲が、なんと30曲も、休憩時間もなく、一気に演奏されました！With a gorgeous stage setting, beautiful video wall footage, and impressive lighting, Queen performed 30 of their greatest songs one after another without break!
ブライアンが真っ暗な空中に浮かんで、周りに惑星が取り巻いたり…感動的な場面がいくつもありました。Brian was floating in space with planets around him... so many impressive scenes.
ブライアンとロジャー、今年72歳と70歳になるはずの彼らのエネルギッシュなパフォーマンスには、驚かされます。I was surprised at their performance energy as this year Brian will be 72 and Roger 70.
彼らの日本びいきはよく知られていますが、このコンサートでもブライアンがソロでアコースティックギターで「Teo Toriatte(手を取り合って)」を奏でると、観客も一緒に日本語歌詞の大合唱になりました。As many of you know, Queen loves Japan. When Brian played acoustic guitar and sang 'Teo Toriatte', the audience sang along in a big Japanese chorus!
そしてその瞬間、フレディがスクリーンに登場！Then Freddie appeared on the screen!
この後のアンコールでも、フレディはホログラムの様に現れて、ライブ・エイドのAy-Oh!が再現されました。For the encore, Freddie appeared as a hologram on stage and did the 'Ay-Oh!' from Live Aid.
1975年のクィーン初来日から45年、ブライアンとロジャーは、当時のファンが今、その家族を連れてコンサート会場に集まった姿を見て感無量だったのでは？
It’s been 45 years since Queen first visited Japan in 1975 so maybe Brian and Roger would have been full of emotion when seeing their old fans gathered with families?
クィーン、日本を愛してくれてありがとう！Thank you for loving Japan Queen!
「感謝」の漢字プリントのTシャツを着たブライアンと、メンバー全員が何度も何度も深くお辞儀をしてステージを去っていきました。Brian wore a T-shirt with 'gratitude' printed in Japanese ... all the members bowed numerous times at the end of the concert then left the stage.
