６年前まで日本で英語教師をしていたアン・マリーが、南アフリカから会いに来てくれました。Anne-Marie was working in Japan as an English teacher six years ago and came back to visit us from South Africa.
母国で日本の企業に就職したアン・マリー、今回は本社でのミーティングのための来日です。She works at a Japanese company in her county, and this time she’s visiting Japan for meetings at the head office.
週末だけはオフ、というわけで浜松まで来てくれました。She had the weekend off and came to Hamamatsu City to visit.
この小旅行での彼女の希望は、以前勤務していた湖西市にある高校と、その近くにある本興寺を訪れること。During her short trip, Anne-Marie requested a visit to the high school where she worked previously and to visit Honkoji Temple in Kosai City.
本興寺は、草創1370頃と伝えられる古いお寺。歴史的に貴重な本堂は、国の重要文化財に指定されています。Honkoji is said to have been established around 1370 and the historically valuable main building is registered as a National Important Cultural Property.
素晴らしい萱葺き屋根が、先日の台風で被害を受け修復中ということで、見られないのが残念でしたが… It was a pity that we couldn’t see the beautiful thatched roof as it was being repaired due to recent typhoon damage.
こちらの庭園は小堀遠州作、遠州三名園のひとつと呼ばれ、北原白秋の歌にも読まれているそうですよ。The garden designed by Kobori Enshu is one of the top three gardens in the Enshu Region, even written about by poet Kitahara Hakushui.
アン・マリーのもう一つの希望は、炭焼きレストラン「さわやか」でのランチ。Another request of Anne-Marie was to have lunch at restaurant Sawayaka.
長澤まさみがお気に入りのレストランということで、人気が出てしまったこのチェーン店、待ち時間は50分でした〜！This chain restaurant became popular many years ago after celebrity Masami Nagasawa said it’s her favorite place ... we waited for 50 minutes to be seated!
ハンバーグでお腹を満たした後は、以前ブログに書いたカフェ、つっつさんへ。After satisfying our appetite, we went to Tsuttsu Cafe which I had previously blogged about.
秋らしく、壁には大きなイチョウの葉っぱが鮮やかに舞っていました。Huge vivid yellow ginkgo leaves flying on the wall expressed the autumn season there.
酸味が効いた明るい色のボリビア産、ちょっとレアなインド産！どちらも美味しい〜！The light-coloured, sour Bolivian and the rare Indian coffees were both very good!
紫芋とゴマのカヌレ、フルーツ添えでいただきました。I ate a sesame canelé with purple sweet potato inside and some fruits.
湖西市の懐かしい場所と新しい場所、どちらもアン・マリーに楽しんでもらえたかな。I hope Anne-Marie enjoyed the nostalgic and new places on her in trip to Kosai.
