鴨川納涼床 Kamogawa Noryo-yuka Terrace≫

台風5号が近づいてた先週日曜日、京都に行ってきました。I was in Kyoto last weekend as Typhoon No. 5 was approaching Japan.
最高気温36.7度を記録したこの日、初めて夏の京都の風物詩、川床を体験してきました。During a hottest 36.7'C temperature, I had dinner on a kawayuka, which is a type of restaurant balcony overlooking a river, a well known image of summer in Kyoto.
夕方、あちらこちらに灯りがともり始めた先斗町、場所は創業70年の老舗、大當両。As the evening lanterns started to light, my group went to Daitoryo, a 70-year-old restaurant in Ponto-cho.
実は、私たちが着いたのはちょうど夕立ちの後、テラス席は水浸しで、止むを得ず室内でビールを飲み始めたのですが… We arrived soon after a summer shower and the terrace floor was all wet, so we reluctantly started with beers indoors ...
なんと、雨が止んだ後は、スタッフの皆さんの素早い作業で、瞬く間にテラス席がセッティングされました！But when the rain stopped, the restaurant staff worked quickly to set up the terrace seating!
妹は「季節のおまかせ懐石」、私は「ゆば膳」、どちらも目に涼やかな盛り付けです。My sister ordered a seasonal kaiseki and mine was a yuba kaiseki, both dinners nicely arranged and beautiful to look at.
そちらにテーブルごと移動すると、なんと夕風が気持ちのよいこと！We moved ourselves to our table and enjoyed the comfortable evening breeze!
この週末、ちょうど「京の七夕」が開催中で、鴨川沿いはテントやステージが立ち並び、とても賑やかでした。There were many tents, people, and a stage along Kamo River as a Tanabata event was underway that weekend.
川に入りたいくらいの暑さでしたが…それでも、もしまた機会があれば、浴衣を着て鴨川沿いをそぞろ歩きしたいものです。It was so hot that I felt like jumping into the water ... if I have a chance to visit again, I'll wear yukata and take a stroll along Kamo River.
