Kasia Mochi, a Polish illustrator and a writer for magazines living in Berlin published a book about life in Japan last November. 現在ベルリンを拠点に、雑誌のイラストなどの創作活動をするポーランド人カシャ・モヒが、昨年11月、日本での生活について１冊の本を出版しました。
It’s already been over three years since she left, but she once lived in Hamamatsu with her family. 彼女が日本を発ってもう3年になりますが、かつてはご家族と一緒に浜松に住んでいました。
When they visited Japan for the first time her daughter Laura was very young and this book is written from her perspective. 初めて日本を訪れた当時まだ幼かった、お嬢さんのラウラの目線を通して日本を描いたようです。
Everything about the food, language, and customs was totally new and incomprehensible for her. 言語、食事、習慣の全てが、彼女にとって初めて出会う不可解な文化でした。
The book is a guide to a fascinating country and also a telling of the emotions and experiences of a child trying to find herself in this unknown reality. 非常に魅力的な国、日本について描いた本であるだけでなく、未知の現実の中での感情や経験を通して、ひとりの子供が自分自身を見つけて行くためのガイドブックともいえるでしょう。
The book sent to my home in Hamamatsu City was written in Polish. 先日、浜松の私のもとに送られてきたこの本は、ポーランド語で書かれたものです。
Kasia’s illustrations are very unique and amazingly beautiful!! カーシャの描くイラストは非常にユニークで美しい！！
The book is interesting for us Japanese to see how foreign people view Japan and Japanese culture, この本は、外国人の目に日本文化がどう映るのか、という意味で私達には興味深い一方で、
And on the other hand it should stir up the imagination of people who don’t know much about Japan yet. まだ日本を知らない人々の想像力も掻き立てるでしょう！
So I am expecting an English version to be published too! そういう意味では英語版の出版が待ち遠しいですね！
