「ミュシャと私」Mucha & Me Exhibition≫

9/6から名古屋市の文化のみち撞木館で開催されていた「ミュシャと私 Yumikoの世界」展へ行ってきました。I visited the ’Mucha and Me - Yumiko’s World’ exhibition that has been on since September 6th at Bunkanomichi Shumokukan in Nagoya City.
お若い頃からアルフォンス・ミュシャの作品に魅せられてきたという、名古屋友禅作家の由美子ポッターさんの展覧会です。This show is put on by Nagoya Yuzen artist Yumiko Potter who has a strong attraction to Alfons Maria Mucha.
ミュシャの絵画から受けた感性を、由美子さんが名古屋友禅で表現した作品の数々が展示されていました。There are many works influenced by Mucha’s paintings and expressed using the Nagoya Yuzen technique by Yumiko.
絹の上に染め上げられた、ミュシャの代表作「四季」は、鮮やかな色彩で女性の優雅さが描かれていました。The women of Mucha’s masterpiece 'Four Seasons' were elegantly dyed with vivid colors on silk canvas.
一方、少し抑えたアンティークなトーンの「四つの花」シリーズは、由美子さんが約30年前に、木綿に描いたものだそうです。And 'The Flowers' series of works were dyed on cotton canvas by Yumiko about 30 years ago and have a slight pale antique tone.
画材によって変わる表現の違い、面白いです。We can enjoy a different nuance depending on the dyeing materials.
アンティークな色彩の「ユリ」や「アイリス」のタペストリーは、まるで何十年も前からこの撞木館に掛けられていたかのように馴染んでいました。
The antique color type tapestries of Lily and Iris matched Shumokukan building very nicely as if they had been hung there for decades.
友禅染めは、油絵や水彩画のような絵画とは違い、気が遠くなるような数々の工程を重ねて仕上がっていきます。The Yuzen dye technique is quite different from oil or water painting, and is finished only after countless hours of work.
薔薇をモチーフに、着物とハンドバッグを絹の生地を織るところからデザインして仕上げた作品など、ミュシャ以外にも沢山の作品がありました。Aside from the Mucha inspired works, there were some kimono and handbags on display with one set originally designed in silk with a rose motif.
午後には、ジャズボーカリストとしての顔を持つ由美子さんのコンサートも、同じ場所で開催されました。In the afternoon, Yumiko held a concert there as she’s a jazz vocalist, too.
さすがはエンターテイナー由美子さん、クラシックなナンバーを、由美子マジックで素敵に表現されました。As expected, Yumiko was a magical entertainer singing classic jazz numbers.
今回のイベントは、様々な肩書きを持つ由美子さんの魅力が全開、まさに「Yumikoの世界」を見せていただきました！I could literally see 'Yumiko’s World' through her multi-talented works and performance at this event.
また今後のご活躍を、楽しみにしております！I’m looking forward to her continued success!
