梅のトンネル Plum Tree Tunnel≫

中国の旧正月のこのシーズン、中国は武漢市のカナディアンスクールで働いているエイミーが、毎年日本にやってきます。Every year at Chinese New Year, my friend Amy who works at a Canadian school in Wuhan, China visits Japan.
快晴の昨日は、彼女と一緒に舘山寺から細江町気賀方面に出かけました。As it was a beautiful sunny day yesterday, we drove with her to Kanzanji, Kiga, and Hosoe Town.
舘山寺のふじ花さんで美味しい蕎麦ランチをいただいて… We had a very delicious soba lunch at Fujihana in Kanzanji ...
近くの昇竜しだれ梅園を訪れてみましたが、まだ公式開園の準備中でした。Then we visited Shoryu Shidare Baien but it was still being prepared for its official opening.
そこから少しドライブして、梅のトンネルが有名な長楽寺に行ってみました。So we drove for a while to visit Chorakuji Temple with its famous plum tree tunnel.
こちらでも梅の開花にはまだ早すぎて、写真で想像していたような梅のトンネルはくぐれませんでしたが… Unfortunately, it was too early so we couldn’t walk through the fully bloomed plum tree tunnel as we imagined ...
こちらの女性の住職さん、仏画教室や音楽イベントなど、様々なユニークな企画をお持ちでした。The female Chief Priest is very unique and there are events like a Buddhist painting class, musical performances and more at this temple.
流暢な英語をお話しになり、エイミーも喜んでいました。Amy was very happy talking with the priest as ahe spoke fluent English.
住職の描く仏画は、棟方志功を思わせるような、でももっとカラフルで可愛らしい印象の絵画です。Her paintings are a little like Minakata Shiko’s but much more colorful and lovely.
梅のトンネルが見頃の2/23だそうです。ん〜行ってみたい！On February 23rd is when the plum flowers will be in full bloom! I’d like to visit there again!
今週来週は、エイミーがキッズクラスに飛び入り参加予定です、楽しみ〜! Amy is going to join our kids classes this week and next week randomly ... should be so fun!
