カナダの卒業式 Canadian Graduation≫

先月、私は息子の高校の卒業式に出席するために、カナダに行ってきました。Last month, I visited Canada to attend my son's high school graduation ceremony.
息子の学校はノース バンクーバーにあるインターナショナル スクール。He goes to an international high school located in North Vancouver.
カナダの卒業式の様子は日本とまるで違います。The Canadian graduation ceremony was quite different from a Japanese graduation ceremony.
涙涙の感動的な日本の卒業式に対して、最初から最後まで楽しいモードのカナダの卒業式。From start to finish, Japanese graduation ceremonies are very moving with tears while in Canada the mood was lighthearted and fun.
1人ずつ校長先生に名前を呼ばれて卒業証書を手渡されますが、人気者の子が壇上に上がった時なんて、会場の歓声がすごいんです。The principal called the names of students one by one and handed them diplomas with popular students receiving extra applause when they went on stage.
日本ならさしずめ カノンのパッヘルベルか何かのBGMが流れて、生徒の私語は禁止なのにね。In Japan, students are supposed to be quiet with only background music like Pachelbel's Canon audible.
この卒業式では、生徒が校長先生とハグしたり握手をした後、その場で携帯で自撮りする子もいたりして、本当に驚きです。During my son's graduation, I was surprised to see that after shaking hands with the principal many students hugged him and one even took a selfy.
こんな風にリラックスした卒業式のクライマックスは、私達がよくハリウッド映画で見る帽子投げ。The climax of the graduation was quite casual, with hats thrown up like in Hollywood movies.
そして、翌日は制服からドレスアップした私服に着替え、ディナークルーズ。The next day, the students wore not their school uniforms but instead formal clothes to attend a dinner cruise.
卒業生たちは船でディナーとバンクーバーの夜景を楽しみました。The graduating class enjoyed dinner and the nightime skyline of Vancouver Harbour by boat.
息子が言うにはディナーはビミョーだったらしいですけどね。My son said the dinner was nothing special.
いずれにせよ、大人に一歩近づいた日でした。Anyways, it was a day of moving one step closer to adulthood.
ボドウェルハイスクール２０１４年の卒業生のみなさん、おめでとうございます！Congratulations to the Bodwell High School Class of 2014!
