I went to chuka soba restaurant Nakaya in Mukojuku Town last week. 先週、向宿町にある中華そば仲屋さんに行ってきました。
This place was recommended to me by a student and was very good so I thought I would share it! このお店は、生徒さんに勧められていってみましたが、とっても美味しかったので、みなさんにシェアしたいと思いました。
Nakaya opened last April and became locally famous very quickly. 仲屋さんは、4月にオープンすると、あっという間に地域の人気店になりました。
I had a large-sized early lunch and everything was delicious. 僕が食べた大きめサイズの早めのランチ、全てが美味しかったですよ。

We went minivelo cycling last Sunday for the first time in a while. 先日の日曜日、久しぶりにミニベロでサイクリングに出かけました。
We were only a small group of five but two were first-timers. 今回は5人の少人数グループで、そのうち2人は始めての参加でした。
We rode from PoPBunka! to the Tenryu River and then down to the Pacific Ocean. PoPBunka!からスタートして天竜川へ、そこから太平洋に向かって走りました。
The sun was shining and the weather was perfect. 太陽が輝き、完璧なお天気でした。
It has been a while since we went riding and the route has changed a little. 前回からしばらく経過していたので、ルートが少し変わっていました。
The pine and cedar trees along the seawall have grown quite quickly. 防潮堤沿いの松と杉の木々は、あっという間に伸びていました。
For lunch we stopped in at our favorite local pizza place and had the traditional banana cinnamon pizza for dessert. 昼食は、地元のお気に入りのピザ屋に立ち寄り、デザートにバナナシナモンピザを食べました。
On the way back we needed some mores sweets so ... 帰り道、もうちょっと甘いものが食べたくなって…
... we stopped for another dessert at PAO Natural Ice Cream in Oroshi Honmachi. 僕達は、卸本町にあるパオ・ナチュラルアイスクリームに立ち寄りました。
I had the raspberry flavour ... yum! 僕が食べたのは、ラズベリー味
…美味しかった！
Total ride distance was about 24km ... very fun and good exercise! この日の総走行距離は24キロ…楽しくて良い運動になりました！

This morning I visited the recently trendy Suzuki Ramen in Iwata City ... I tried yesterday but it was soldout at noon! 今朝、磐田市で最近流行っているスズキラーメンに行ってみました…昨日も行ってみたんだけど、正午には完売だったので！
As you can see, the style of the restaurant is a near copy of a Suzuki Motors car dealership. ご覧の通り、このレストランのスタイル、スズキ自動車販売店に近いよね。
Like half of all people in the Enshu area, the owner's family name is Suzuki. 遠州地方の住民の半数と同様に、こちらの店主さんも鈴木さんです。
Apparently he got permission from Suzuki Motor company to use their branding style so long as he didn't use their famous stylized Suzuki 'S'. スズキの有名な「S」のマークを使わないということで、スズキ自動車からブランドスタイルの使用許可を得たようです。
The menu is quite simple and I ordered the negi chashumen ramen for my breakfast. メニューはシンプルで、僕は朝食としてネギチャーシューメンを注文しました。
The interior is also very simple with classic ramen shop tables and stools. 内装もシンプルで、テーブルとスツールという定番の作り。
And a Suzuki Motors style sign on the back wall. そして、後の壁にはスズキ自動車風の看板。
My negi chasumen ramen had a soy based broth and was very satisfying. 僕が食べたネギチャーシューメンは醤油ベースのスープで、大満足でした。
The Suzuki branding is a fun idea sure to 'create buzz' on social media ... and the ramen is good too! 「スズキ」のブランディングは、SNSでバズるには、楽しいアイデアだなぁ…ラーメンも美味しい！
Suzuki Ramen is open from 6am so you can eat it for your early morning breakfast if you like! スズキラーメンは、朝6時から営業しているので、早めの朝食にもいけます！

Kitty Hotel ドッグヴィラ富士河口湖

Last weekend the kitties went on a car trip to Yamanashi Prefecture. 先週の土曜日、ネコちゃん達は山梨県へ車でお出かけしました。
We drove two hours and stayed at a newly opened pet friendly hotel called Dog Villa Fuji Kawaguchiko. 時間ドライブして、新しくオープンしたペットフレンドリーなホテル「ドッグヴィラ富士河口湖」に泊まりました。
The place opened just last June and had the clean feeling of brand new! 6月に開業した施設で、オープンしたての清潔感がありました！
Our villa had a pool suitable for pets, a large bath, and a private sauna room. 私たちの部屋には、ペット用のプールと大きなお風呂、それからプライベートサウナもありました。
The large circular bedroom was also nice and great for running around in circles. 大きな円形の寝室も素敵で、ぐるぐる走り回るのに最適でした。
Risu and Hige enjoyed chasing each other around the large lawn area. リスとヒゲは、広い芝生エリアで追いかけっこを楽しんでいました。
Risu even jumped over the low fence and escaped as the whole place is basically designed for dog owners. こちらは全体的に犬の飼い主のために設計されていたため、リスは低いフェンスを飛び越えて脱出してしまいました。
Orange ninja cat. オレンジ色の忍者猫。
Mimi-chan most enjoyed the sauna and was angry every time someone opened the door and let the heat out. ミミちゃんはというと、彼女は主にサウナを楽しんでいて、誰かがドアを開けて熱が逃げるたびに怒っていました。
She looked at the bath but decided against getting wet. 彼女はお風呂は見たものの、濡れないように決めたようでした。
The BBQ food was great and plenty big ... I ate too much. バーベキューの食べ物は素晴らしくて、量も多かったので…食べ過ぎてしまった。
We even enjoyed a small relaxing bonfire in the evening ... it was a very nice trip! 夜はゆったりと小さな焚き火も楽しめました…··· とても素敵な旅行でした！

U2KANAYA カフェユノートル

Long time no blogging for me! I'm going to start again ... 長いこと休んでしまったブログ！また再会しようと思います…
I went to U2 Kanaya Cafe Unautre last weekend in Shimada on my new scooter. 先週末、僕の新しいスクーターで、島田市にあるU2カナヤカフェ ユノートルに行ってきました。
The cafe is about 2 years old and opened during the corona pandemic. このカフェ、コロナ禍にオープンして2年くらい経つらしい。
It's located in an old refurbished storehouse and is part of a group of businesses that also do photo studio work and sweets. 古い改装された倉庫の中にあって、写真館の仕事やスイーツも手がける企業グループの一部なんです。
The interior is designed in a rustic, cozy style with lots of plants and has a warm atmosphere. インテリアは素朴で居心地の良いスタイルで、植物が多くて暖かい雰囲気。
There is original coffee for sale which they roast themselves on their roaster high above the kitchen. キッチンの上にあるロースターで焙煎した、オリジナルコーヒーも販売されていますよ。
Lots of funky plants hanging on the wall. たくさんのファンキーな植物が壁に掛かってます。
For lunch there was a beef bowl ... ランチは、牛丼と…
... and some cool temperature spaghetti that was a perfect match for the hot summer weather. ... 暑い夏にぴったりの、冷製スパゲッティもありました。

Tomoe Public Bath 巴湯

Last month, one of Hamamatsu City's last public baths closed for good. 先月、浜松市最後の銭湯が残念ながら閉店しました。
Tomoeyu Public Bath in Daikumachi originally opened way back in 1947. 大工町の銭湯、巴湯は、1947年に開店しました。
I've been to many super-sentos but this was my first visit to a local neighborhood bath and it was interesting. これまで多くのスーパー銭湯を訪れましたが、巴湯は私にとって初めての地元の銭湯で興味深い所でした。
There was no shower, no soap, no shampoo, and the hot and cold water were on separate taps. シャワーもない、石鹸もない、シャンプーもない。そして、蛇口も水とお湯に分かれている。
And everything was very, very small. そして、全てが、めっちゃくちゃ、小さい。
While I was there a TV crew from Shizuoka Daiichi TV was shooting a story about Tomoeyu. 私が巴湯にいる時にちょうど、静岡第一テレビが撮影に来ていました。
The reporter asked me a few questions while I was bathing ... my first nude TV appearance. 私が湯船につかっているときに、レポーターからインタビューを受けました…初めてテレビにヌード出演しちゃいました。
I stayed for about 30 minutes ... just a quick in and out. 30分ほどいて、さっと出ました。
The next weekend I returned to Tomoeyu to see an original wall painting that had been covered over for many years. 翌週 も巴湯を訪れ、今度は長年浴室を飾っていた壁絵を見ました。
The bath was closed and the building was being demolished. 巴湯は閉店し、建物もすでに解体中です。
The painting was revealed after removing part of the east wall and was being shown for only two days. 壁絵は東側の壁の一部を取り除いたことで露わになり、2日間だけ見ることができました。
The two section picture was done in 1954 by a Yokohama painter named Amagasa and shows a view of Atami. 二分割された絵は横浜の天笠という絵師によって、1954年に描かれました。
I was happy to see this little part of Hamamatsu history but also a little sad to see it disappear. 浜松市の歴史の一部に触れられたことを幸運に思うとともに、それが消えていくのを目にするのはさみしいものです。

Marina Hayashi Exhibition 林満里奈個展

A PoPBunka! student is having a solo exhibition of her abstract works at Landmark's Round table Gallery in Hamamatsu City. ポップブンカの生徒さんが、現在浜松市内のランドマークプランニング社が運営するギャラリー・ラウンドテーブルにて、抽象画の個展を開催しています。
Marina Hayashi is a local visual artist, a painter who works in oil, water colour, and pencil. 林満里奈は、地元のビジュアルアーティストで、油、水彩、ペンシル画を描いています。
These works could be considered abstract expressions ... this means the use of gestural brush-strokes and mark-making. これらの作品は抽象的な表現と考えられ…つまり、身振りを使った筆使いとマークメイキングです。
There is also the feeling of spontaneity and subconscious creation. また作品には自発的な感情と潜在意識も表現されています。
I love her work very much and would be happy to look at it everyday! 僕は彼女の作品が大好きで、毎日観て幸せな気分になっています！
Marina has said she admires the work of American abstract expressionist painter Helen Frankenthaler. 満里奈はアメリカの抽象画家ヘレン・フランケンサーラーの作品に憧れていると言っていました。
The exhibition will be held from December 3rd until December 12th, 10am until 5pm with the artist there on the weekends. こちらの展覧会は12月12日(日)まで開催中です。週末のみアーティストが在廊致します。

A PoPBunka! student is having a solo exhibition of her abstract works at Landmark's Round table Gallery in Hamamatsu City. ポップブンカの生徒さんが、現在浜松市内のランドマークプランニング社が運営するギャラリー・ラウンドテーブルにて、抽象画の個展を開催しています。
Marina Hayashi is a local visual artist, a painter who works in oil, water colour, and pencil. 林満里奈は、地元のビジュアルアーティストで、油、水彩、ペンシル画を描いています。
These works could be considered abstract expressions ... this means the use of gestural brush-strokes and mark-making. これらの作品は抽象的な表現と考えられ…つまり、身振りを使った筆使いとマークメイキングです。
There is also the feeling of spontaneity and subconscious creation. また作品には自発的な感情と潜在意識も表現されています。
I love her work very much and would be happy to look at it everyday! 僕は彼女の作品が大好きで、毎日観て幸せな気分になっています！
Marina has said she admires the work of American abstract expressionist painter Helen Frankenthaler. 満里奈はアメリカの抽象画家ヘレン・フランケンサーラーの作品に憧れていると言っていました。
The exhibition will be held from December 3rd until December 12th, 10am until 5pm with the artist there on the weekends. こちらの展覧会は12月12日(日)まで開催中です。週末のみアーティストが在廊致します。

Tomodachi Minivelo 友達のミニベロ

We went minivelo cycling on Sunday with some friends from Tokyo. 日曜日に、東京から遊びに来た友達とミニヴェロサイクリングに行ってきました。
The weather was perfect so we could see a mini Mt. Fuji very clearly and the Pacific Ocean was also very blue and beautiful. お天気この上なく、富士山くっきり、太平洋もどこまでも青く美しく。
It's nice to be out again riding together as a group after the last two years of social distancing. この2年、ずっと三密を避けてきたので、みんなと一緒にこうしてまたお出かけ出来るのがうれしい。
For the first time ever we had a doggy join us ... a gorgeous nine month old Pomeranian named 'Pocky'. 私達史上初で、今回はワンコも私達に同行…めっちゃかわいい生後9ヶ月のポメラニアン、ポッキーちゃん！
There was no wind so the ocean was flat. 風もなく、海もおだやかでした。
No wind also means it was fairly warm and easy to ride our bikes. 無風は私達にとってもありがたく、いい感じに暖かくて自転車で進むのも楽チンでした。
The trees along the inside of the sea wall are getting bigger and the area is starting to look like a forest again. 防波堤の内側に植えられた木々も大きくなってきて、再び森のようになってきました。
Lots of smiles and sunshine! 笑顔いっぱい、お日様もいっぱい！
Pocky enjoyed his backpack window view and could smell all the interesting aromas through the mesh. ポッキーもリュックサックの窓からの眺めを楽しみ、アミアミ越しに色々な香りを楽しんでいました。
In total we rode only about 30km but it was very enjoyable chatting, taking photos, and looking at the sea. 今回は合計で30キロくらいしか走行しませんでしたか、オシャベリや写真撮影、そして海の風景を満喫しました。
A very fun day! 楽しい１日でした！

Over the last year, restaurants around the world have had a tough time due to the drop in business from the Covid 19 pandemic. すでに1年以上、新型コロナウイルスの流行によって、世界中のレストランが事業の落ち込みによって散々な目にあっています。
The restaurants in downtown Hamamatsu City have been struggling too with some places closing and declaring bankruptcy. 浜松市街地のレストランの中にも閉店に追い込まれたり破産宣言をする店舗もあり、苦戦しています。
A friend of mine and his wife own a place called Hanchar's in the downtown area and they recently started serving lunch. 街中でハンチャーズというレストランを経営している僕の友人ご夫妻が、最近ランチ営業を始めました。
I went last weekend and I'll be going again during the week too! 僕は先週末に行ってみたのですが、平日にも行きたいと思ってます！
The food has always been great here and for lunch I had a hamburg steak in a balsamic red wine sauce. ここの料理はいつも素晴らしいのですが、この日のランチではバルサミコ赤ワインソースのハンバーグステーキをいただきました。
It's like a higher class Sawayaka! “さわやか"のハンバーグの上級クラスといったところかな！
Salad and drink also included in the lunch set ... yum! ランチセットにはサラダと飲み物も含まれてます…美味しい！

Wisteria Minivelo 2021 熊野の長藤ミニベロ

Spring is here and it's nice to be outside in the sunshine and fresh air. 春ですね。外に出て、お日さまのポカポカと新鮮な空気を楽しみましょう。
Last Sunday some PoPBunka! students went minivelo cycling along the Tenryu River. 先日の日曜日、PoPBunkaの生徒さん何人かとミニヴェロで天竜川沿いをサイクリングしてきました。
We have rode this route many times but last weekend was a little special. これまでもう何回も通った行程ではありますが、先週末はちょっと特別なことがあったのです。
The wisteria trellis at Gyokoji Temple were in full bloom. 行興寺の藤の花が満開だったんです。
So we stopped in to have a look around. Beautiful! なので、立ち寄って見物してきました。きれいだった！
There were a few people there, but much fewer than in a usual year ... lucky us! 他にも何人かはいらっしゃいましたが、例年に比べたらぐっと少ない数…ラッキーな僕たち！
Afterwards, we continued riding south down the Tenryu River to the Pacific Ocean. 藤の花を見たあとは、天竜川を太平洋に向かってひたすら南下。
It was very sunny but also quite windy ... the headwind gave us some extra exercise. とてもいいお天気でしたが、結構風が強くて…向かい風でいつもより運動してしまいました。
For lunch we stopped in at our favourite surfer run pizza restaurant. お昼は僕たちお気に入り、サーファーさん経営のピザレストランで。
I'm always surprised how reasonable the prices are and how good the food is. とってもお安くて、とっても美味しいので毎回びっくりしてしまいます。
I had a banana on a stick for dessert. デザートは串に刺さったチョコバナナ。
In total we rode about 50km ... great fun! 全部で50キロの行程でした…超楽しかった！
Hopefully, we'll be able to get out riding a few more times before rainy season comes. 梅雨の季節が始まるまでに、あと何回かミニヴェロサイクリングに出かけたいですね。

Awagadake Minivelo 粟ヶ岳ミニベロ

Yesterday was a national holiday in Japan so six PoPBunka! people went for a minivelo cycing tour. 日本では祝日だった昨日、6人のポップブンカ生とミニベロサイクリングに出掛けました。
The weather was beautiful when we left our office in Hamamatsu City and rode east. スクールを出た時には快晴のお天気。僕たちは東へと向かいました。
Our goal was to arrive at the top of the famous tea mountain in Kakegawa called Awagadake. 僕たちの目的地は掛川にある粟ヶ岳と呼ばれる有名な茶山の頂上でした。
After 48km of pedaling and 600m of vertical ascent we arrived at the top of the mountain ... hard work! 48kmペダルを漕ぐと、地上600mの山の頂上に到着…めっちゃ大変でした！
The cafe building at the top is relatively new and has a modern minimal design. 頂上にあるカフェは比較的新しい建物で、モダンですっきりとしたデザイン。
The interior is also interesting and the deck area has a gorgeous view of western Shizuoka Prefecture. インテリアもいい感じで、デッキからは静岡県西部が見渡せるゴージャスな眺めが臨めます。
A statue of a monk looks out over Shizuoka Airport and a large cow made of grass welcomes people arriving at the top. 静岡空港を見渡す僧侶の像と草で作られた大きな牛が、到着する人々を出迎えています。
We ate lunch on top and I had a bowl of green tea too. 頂上でランチをして、僕はお抹茶も一服いただきました。
On the way back to Kakegawa we stopped in to try the local craft beer made by Kakegawa Farm Brewing. 掛川に戻る途中、僕たちはカケガワファームブルーイングが製造する地元のクラフトビールを試飲しに行きました。
There are actually two different places to drink the KFB beer downtown and we stopped at the 'BUCKET HERE & CORNER' bar. 街中にはカケガワファームブルーイングのビールが飲める場所が２箇所あり、僕たちはバケツヒアというバーに寄ってみました。
We sampled some of the beers and then walked over to Kakegawa Station to catch the local train home. 僕たちはいくつかのビールを試飲した後、掛川駅まで歩きました。家まで電車で帰るために。
In total we rode about 68km and had a very fun time! 今日走ったのは合計68キロ、とても楽しい一日でした！

Today I decided to break my diet in order to visit a new restaurant in Iwata City.今日は、磐田市にオープンした新しいレストランに行くので、僕のダイエットはお休みすることに決めました。
The place is called hygge and its located in the Iwata tea farm plateau area north of Lalaport Iwata. レストランの名前はヒュッゲ、場所はららぽーと磐田の北にある茶農家台地の中です。
It opened just this month in a renovated old farmhouse. 古い農家を改築したこちらのレストラン、今月オープンしたばかりです。
The place looks great inside and the food was very good too. 内装はすばらしく、料理もとっても美味しかったです。
I had a salad appetizer. 前菜にはサラダをいただきました。
A hamburg steak main course but I asked for a only a small portion of rice. ハンバーグがメインのコースでしたが、僕はライスの量を控えめにお願いしました。
And cheesecake for dessert. デザートはチーズケーキ。
It was very delicious but I only ate half ... diet dayo. すごく美味しかったんだけど、半分だけ食べました…ダイエットだよ。
The building has two floors with lots of open space and the outside deck area looks very comfortable too. 二階建ての開放的な建物で、外のデッキ席も居心地良さそうでした。
Actually the word 'hygge' is from the Danish language and in Denmark has a meaning of comfort, coziness, and contentment. 実は「ヒュッゲ」というのはデンマーク語で、心地良さ、和やかさ、幸福感を表します。
Very true of hygge restaurant in Iwata! 磐田にある、まさにヒュッゲなレストラン！
After lunch I rode my bicycle through the green tea fields nearby towards the Tenryu River. 昼食の後は自転車で、近くにある天竜川まで、茶畑を走り抜けました。
Along the Tenryu River bank the Japanese pampas grass was swaying in the wind. 天竜川の岸辺には、ススキが風になびいていました。
A sure sign of autumn. 秋ですなぁ。
In total, I rode just over 71km today and included a little extra distance around Lake Sanaru as a penalty for eating cheesecake on my diet. 今日は合計71キロを自転車で走りました。チーズケーキを食べたペナルティとして、佐鳴湖一周分の距離も足しました。

Pizza Circuit Minivelo ピザ サーキットミニベロ

Last Sunday we rode our usual pizza circuit ocean view minivelo route. 先週の日曜日、私達はいつものオーシャンビュー・ピザ・サーキット・ミニベロルートを走りました。
Some new riders joined us so we kept the ride short. 何人か新しい参加者がいたので、走行距離は短めにしました。
The weather was nice but a little windy ... luckily it was a tailwind. お天気は良かったけれど、ちょっと風がありました…追い風だったのはラッキー。
Riding through the beach pines that give our city its name is always nice. 私達の市の名前の由来になったビーチ(浜)の松林を走り抜けるのは、いつも気持ち良いものです。
Lots of crashing waves to see down at the beach near the mouth of the Tenryu River. 天竜川の河口近くでは、何度も何度も波が寄せては砕けていました。
For lunch we had our favourite stone oven pizza and returned home after riding only 27km. ランチにはいつもの私達のお気に入り、石窯焼きピザを食べて、家まで戻って27キロ。
It was an easy and fun day! Thanks all for coming! 今回はラクで楽しい一日でした！ ご参加されたみなさん、ありがとう！

おやつ屋 Micoppe カップケーキ

Recently I'm on a calorie restricted diet but I went to see a sweet shop in Mori Town today. 最近の僕はカロリー制限ダイエット中なんだけど、今日は森町にあるスウィーツショップに行っちゃった。
The weather was so nice I decided to ride my scooter. お天気がめっちゃ良かったから、スクーターで行ってきたよ。
The place is called Oyatsuya Micoppe and it located in the old downtown area of Mori Town. お店の名前は おやつ屋ミコッペ、森町の古い街並みにあります。
Previously, Micoppe was in Fukuroi but the clerk said they moved to this location about 3 years ago. 以前は袋井にあったミコッペ、定員さんが言うには3年ほど前に現在の場所に引越してきたとか。
They have a fairly large assortment of sweets for sale ... very colourful! かなりの種類のスウィーツが販売されています…カラフルだなぁ！
The interior is very stylishly designed too. インテリアもとってもオシャレ。
When I visited there were six different typse of Halloween-themed cupcakes on offer. 僕が行った時には、6種類のハロウィン用のカップケーキがありました。
So I ordered one of each for take-out. それぞれ1個ずつテイクアウト で注文。
I ate two of them and they tasted great! そのうち2つ食べてみたよ、美味しい！
I'll do a little extra exercise today so I don't ruin my diet. ダイエットが台無しにならないように、今日は多めに運動しなくちゃ。

I went for a short minivelo ride at Hamamatsu Garden Park this afternoon. 今日の午後、浜名湖ガーデンパークまで短距離ミニベロサイクリングに出かけました。
The weather was perfect at Lake Hamana. 浜名湖のお天気は完璧でした。
My purpose was to visit a cafe in the parking lot area. 僕の目的は、駐車場内にあるカフェに行くこと。
Time Drip Coffee relocated from downtown Hamamatsu City last April. 浜松市街にあったタイムドリップコーヒーが、４月にこちらに引っ越してきたのです。
The new cafe is made of containers and is very stylish and spacious. 新しいカフェは、コンテナで出来ていて、広々してオシャレ。
Their new logo looks great too... he made my coffee! 新しいロゴもいい感じ！彼が僕のコーヒーを淹れてくれました。
I had a perfect ice coffee made with Colombian beans. コロンビア産の豆で淹れてもらった完璧なアイスコーヒーを飲みました。
The deck is very large and is a great place to relax and take a break. デッキは広くて、ゆっくり休憩するには最適です。
Nice place! いいところだなぁ！
I bought some beans to take home so we'll been enjoying them at PoPBunka! this week. 持ち帰りでコーヒー豆を買ってきたので、今週のポップブンカ！でこちらのコーヒーが楽しめますよ。
Time Drip Coffee is closed on Wednesdays and rainy days. タイムドリップコーヒーは水曜日と雨の日がお休みです。

Okuzurei Minivelo 大崩海岸ミニベロ

We took the train to Shizuoka City today for a minivelo cycling adventure ... it's been a while! JRに乗って静岡市に。すごく久しぶりのミニヴェロサイクリングです。
After leaving the station we rode along the Abe River to Mochimune. 駅を後にし、用宗に向かって安倍川沿いを進みました。
Our first stop was at Shizuoka's West Coast Brewery located in Mochimune Port. 最初の休憩場所は、用宗漁港にあるウェストコースト ブルーイング。
The place looked great and the beers did too. 場所も素敵、ビールも魅力的でした。
Of course we had to make a toast with grapefruit juice, orange juice, ginger ales, and colas. もちろん私達はグレープフルーツジュース、オレンジジュース、ジンジャーエールとコーラで「かんぱ〜い」。
But we'll try their beers in the near future! 近いうちにビールも飲むぞ！
Next we rode along the Mochimune coastline towards Yaizu ... very beautiful. 用宗海岸沿いを焼津に向けて…すごくきれい。
Riding up the Okuzurei coastal road is hard work and we stopped early to see the ocean. 大崩海岸道を登って行くのはかなりしんどいので、早めにちょっと一息して海を眺めました。
Tsuruga Bay was flat with no waves but the view across to the Izu Peninsula was gorgeous. 駿河湾は穏やかで波もありませんでしたが、伊豆半島まで見渡せる絶景でした。
Riding up the steep cliffside road was very hard work but ... 険しい崖をミニヴェロで進むのは本当に大変でしたが…
... the views from the top were amazing. …頂上からの眺めは息をのむほどでした。
The old Shofukaku Hotel looked very regal on its perch over the ocean but I wouldn't want to be staying there when the big Tokai Earthquake finally hits. 昔からあるホテル松風閣が海をのぞんで堂々とした佇まいでした。が、いつかくる東海大地震の発生時にはそこにはいたくないですね。
For lunch we went to the Yaizu Fish Market and I had fresh tuna sushi and sashimi. お昼は焼津魚市場で新鮮なマグロのお寿司とお刺身をいただきました。
After lunch we rode along the small Seto River towards Fujieda. お昼の後は小さな瀬戸川を藤枝に向けて進みました。
Our goal was to have dessert at Nanaya Tea Company's ice cream store. 今回の目的は、お茶の製造元「ななや」直営のジェラート店でのデザート。
I had a cone with a scoop of extra strong No. 7 green tea ice cream on the bottom and a scoop of grape gelato on top. 私はコーンで、no.7の濃茶アイスクリームにブドウのジェラートを載せていただきました。
Finally, we got on the local train at Shimada Statiton and returned to Hamamatsu City. 島田駅からまたJRに乗り、浜松に戻りました。
In total we rode about 36.5km today and had lots of good food, drink, and exercise. 今日は合計36.5kmのミニヴェロ旅。たくさん食べて、飲んで、運動しました。

Uber Eats Bag ウーバー・イーツ・バッグ

I don't work for Uber Eats but sometimes I look like I do. 私はウーバーイーツで働いてはないんですが、時々、働いてるようにしか見えないような時があります。
Last month I bought a couple of Uber Eats delivery bags on the internet ... they're very convenient for shopping and cycling. 先日、インターネットでウーバーイーツの配達用バッグを買っちゃいました…買い物やサイクリングに便利なんです！
I was surprised to see so many secondhand bags for sale on the auction sites. オークションサイトにたくさん中古が出品されていて驚きました。
I guess maybe people gave up soon after joining Uber Eats because it's pretty hard work. 私が思うに、ウーバーイーツに参加したものの、あまりに大変な仕事なんで、すぐ辞めちゃったんじゃないかなあ、と。
And the pay isn't great either. お給料も良いわけじゃないしね。
The design on the bag in this picture was created by Canadian illustrator Melanie Lambrick. このバッグのデザインは、カナダ人イラストレーターのメラニー ランブリックの手によるもの。
She has said her design is to show the joy of food delivery: the variety, the indulgence, and the sensation of being treated ... in a fun way. 彼女によると、フードデリバリーの楽しさをデザインしたのだとか。バラエティの豊かさ、自由気ままなこと、そしてご馳走を出してもらうこと、を楽しい絵で表現しています。
I like it. 気に入っちゃった。
The bag is also very useful for grocery shopping as it holds just the right amount of food for comfortably riding a bicycle. 自転車に快適に乗るのにちょうどいい量がきちんと入るので、食品の買い出しにもとても便利なんです。
And of course they are insulated so the food is kept cool for longer than regular shopping bags. もちろん、保冷用の裏打ちもしてあるので、通常のショッピングバッグより長く食品を冷たいままにしてくれます。
If you don't mind all the people that will stare at you, Uber Eats bags work great for delivering food to yourself. 人にジロジロ見られるのが嫌でなければ、ウーバーイーツのバッグは自分のために食品を運ぶのに便利ですよ。

Zero Fighter Bunker 三方原飛行場の掩体壕

Last Wednesday afternoon, I decided to track down something that I've been interested in for a while. 水曜日の午後、以前から気になっていたことについて調べてみることにしました。
Out on the flat farming fields of Mikatabara there is a World War Two era concrete aircraft shelter. 三方原の農地の片隅に、第二次世界大戦時に作られたコンクリート製の飛行機シェルターがあります。
It's a little difficult to find it and I don't want to post the address here as the location is a private residence. 見つけるのもちょっと大変なのですが、私有地なので、住所の記載は避けたいと思います。
This concrete aircraft bunker was built in 1944 to house a single small fighter plane. このコンクリートの飛行機用掩蔽壕（えんたいごう:トーチカとも呼ばれます）は、戦闘機一機を収納するために1944年に建てられました。
The illustration shows a yellow-coloured zero fighter inside the shelter. 黄色のゼロ戦がシェルター内に描かれています。
Yellow indicates that the plane was probably used for training. 黄色であることから、この飛行機はおそらく訓練機だったのでしょう。
At this stage in the war, American aircraft would have been a threat to attack any targets in plain view so the aircraft needed to be hidden and protected. 戦中のこの時期、可視のターゲットはアメリカ軍からの攻撃を受ける恐れもあったため、飛行機は隠され、また守られる必要があったのです。
These days the owners seem to be using the bunker as a store house ... interesting! 現在は、所有されている方はお家の収納としてお使いのようです…興味深い！
I hope to find out more details about this shelter so I'll keep investigating ... このシェルターについてもっと詳しくしりたいので、今後も追跡を続けます…

Omaezaki Mini-Minivelo 御前崎・ミニ・ミニベロ

I went for a very short 25.5km minivelo trip around Omaezaki yesterday. 昨日は、御前崎周辺まで25.5キロの、短距離ミニベロサイクリングに出かけました。
It was quite hot and my neck and arms were sunburned. とっても暑い日で、僕は首と腕を日焼けしちゃいました。
Luckily, the sky was clear so I could see Mount Fuji in the distance ... great fun! 快晴だったので、遠くに富士山が見えてラッキー… 最高だね！
I was testing out some new routes ... we'll be going again soon! 新しいルートを試走してみたんだ…また近いうちに出かけるよ！

I went for a very short 25.5km minivelo trip around Omaezaki yesterday. 昨日は、御前崎周辺まで25.5キロの、短距離ミニベロサイクリングに出かけました。
It was quite hot and my neck and arms were sunburned. とっても暑い日で、僕は首と腕を日焼けしちゃいました。
Luckily, the sky was clear so I could see Mount Fuji in the distance ... great fun! 快晴だったので、遠くに富士山が見えてラッキー… 最高だね！
I was testing out some new routes ... we'll be going again soon! 新しいルートを試走してみたんだ…また近いうちに出かけるよ！

Seawall Minivelo 防潮堤ミニベロ

It was beautiful summer-like weather today so some students and I went minivelo cycling along the new seawall. 今日は夏を思わせるようなお天気でしたね。僕は数人の生徒さんと一緒に、防潮堤沿いをミニベロサイクリングに出かけました。
We've all been staying home so much we needed some exercise. みんなずっと外出自粛だったから、体を動かさないとね。
We rode from PoPBunka! to Lake Hamana, then along the seawall to the Tenryu River before riding back. 僕たちは先ずポップブンカ！から浜名湖まで、そして防潮堤沿いを天竜川まで走りました。
For lunch we stopped at the famous shrimp restaurant in Maisaka called 'The Uoara' ... great food! お昼は、舞阪で海老天で有名な"魚あら"に寄って、美味しいランチをいただきました！
Parts of the route are beautiful to ride on ... paved like a mini-highway! このルートには、自転車で走るのに最高の場所が何ヶ所もあります… 舗装された路はまるでミニベロ・ハイウェイ！
Break time was at an old hut on the beach with a great ocean view... 休憩は、海の眺めが素晴らしいビーチの古い小屋で…
The wind was very strong and the waves very big! 風がとても強くて、波が高くなっていました。
It felt great to get outside today and we had a super fun day ... thanks to all for coming! 外出できて、今日は最高の１日となりました… 参加者の皆さん、ありがとう！
In total we rode about 48.6km. トータル48.6キロ走りました。
Hopefully we can go again soon! また近いうちに行けるといいな！
