After staying home all week because of the Covid19 problem, I decided to get some cycling exercise yesterday. コビッド19問題のため、１週間家にこもっていましたが、昨日はサイクリングで運動をしよう、と決めました。
I used my big-wheel bicycle from Canada and rode from my office to Sanaruko, then on towards Lake Hamana. カナダ製の車輪の大きな自転車で、僕のオフィスから佐鳴湖、その後浜名湖に向かって走りました。
There's a beautiful section of the original Tokaido Road in Maisaka Town ... the old Edo Period trees still line the road. 舞阪町の旧東海道には、美しい場所があります… 古い江戸時代の木々がいまだに並んでいるんです。
I passed one of the recently built tsunami evacuation towers in Maisaka ... a reminder that there are other dangers to worry about too. 舞阪にある、近年建てられた津波避難タワーを通り… 他にも心配しなければいけない危険があることを思い起こされました。
Maisaka Port was pretty quiet on Sunday morning, but many amateur fisherman were out along the piers. 日曜日朝の舞阪港はとっても静かでしたが、桟橋にはたくさんの釣り人が並んでいました。
The new seawall runs along the Enshu Coast beach and finishes alongside the Hamanako Bypass bridge. 新しい防波堤は、遠州灘沿いを浜名湖バイパスの橋の辺りまで走っています。
The seawall is supposed to be 17.5km long and rise 15m above sea level to offer some measure of protection for Hamamatsu City from future tsunamis. この防波堤は、全長17.5キロ、高さ海抜15mで、将来の津波災害時に、浜松市を守る対策ということになっています。
I climbed up the steep steps of the west face cross-section of the seawall with my bicycle ... a little scary in the strong wind. 僕は、防波堤西側端にある急傾斜の階段を、自転車を持って登ってみました… 強風の中、ちょっと怖かったけどね。
They reminded me of the kind of sharply-angled stairs you find in Japanese castles. 日本のお城の中にある、急な階段を思い出したりしました。
The view from the top of the seawall is magnificent ... you can see all along the beach and into Lake Hamana as well. 防波堤の頂上からの眺めは、絶景… 海岸線の全てが、浜名湖の中まで見渡せますよ。
Riding along the first 3km of the wall is most excellent as the route is super smooth. 走り始めの3キロは、道が全く平坦で非常に走りやすいです。
The superb vantage point 15m up gives you a commanding view of the beach. 高さ15mの見事な観測地点からは、ビーチが良く見渡せます。
The seawall is not yet complete and sections after the first 3km are filled with gravel ... so the riding is a bit rough. この防波堤はまだ未完成で、3キロを過ぎてからは砂利道になります… 自転車で走るにはちょっとキツいかな。
About halfway towards the Tenryu River, I stopped at the remains of a small beach hut for a drink break. 天竜川に向かって半分ほど走ったあたりにビーチ小屋の残骸があったので、給水のため休憩。
Sitting and watching the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean was very calming. 腰を下ろして、太平洋の砕ける波を眺めながら、とてもくつろいだ気分でした。
On the east side of the Magome River, part of the bicycle trail is very nice ... like a mini highway! 馬込側の東側の自転車道は最高… ちっちゃな高速道路みたい！
I hope they finished the entire 17.5km route like this because it would be a cycler's paradise. 17.5キロ全体がこんな風に完成して欲しいなぁ、そしたら自転車に乗る人にとってパラダイスだよ！
As I was feeling very energetic yesterday, I decided to ride up the east side of the river to Tenryu Ward, then circle back towards downtown. 昨日の僕はエネルギー満々で、川の東側を天竜区まで走り、そして街中まで帰ってきました。
Total distance was 79.8km ... some good exercise on a gorgeous day! 合計79.8キロ… 気持ち良い日に、よい運動になりました！
