いつかは訪れたいと思っていた 出雲大社に、行ってきました！I finally went to Izumo Taisha Shrine where I have wanted to visit for a long time!
浜松から45分で静岡空港へ、そして70分のフライトと、出雲は意外と遠くはありませんでした。Izumo is not so far from Hamamatsu, only a 45 minute drive to Shizuoka Airport then a 70 minute flight.
旧暦十月の神無月は、現在の暦では11月後半、丁度私達が訪れた頃でした。Kannazuki is October on the lunar calendar but later in November using a regular calendar, and was just the time we visited.
この時期に全国の神々が出雲大社に会議の為にお集まりになるんですよね。It is said that gods from all over Japan gather at Izumo Taisha Shrine for a conference during this time of year.
出雲以外では、神様が不在になるので神無月、出雲地方では神在”月、なるほど〜。October is Kamiarizuki (Gods Existing Month) in the Izumo region but in other areas around Japan it is called Kannazuki (No Gods Month) as they’re absent and at Izumo.
ここに祀られる大国主大神様と共に神話「因幡の白兎」に登場するウサギに因んで、境内にも松並木の参道にも、可愛らしい兎像が沢山いてほっこり。There were many cute rabbit statues in the precincts of the shrine and along the approach road of pine trees. These rabbits appear in the myth 'Inaba no Shirousagi' with Okuninushi Okami.
ランチは本場の出雲そば。For lunch we had authentic Izumo Soba.
人気の田中屋さんに30分並んで、名物の”三色割子そば”をいただきました。We lined up at the popular Tanaka-ya Restaurant for 30 minutes and had the specialty 3 color Wariko soba.
やや太めでしっかりとした歯応えのそば、美味しくて腹持ち良し。The slightly thick and chewy soba was delicious and filling.
海沿いをドライブして出雲日御碕で夕陽を楽しんだ後、本日の宿「竹野屋」へ。After driving along the beach and enjoying the sunset at Izumo Hinomisaki, we headed to our accommodations at Takenoya Inn.
現在は竹内まりやがオーナーを務める創業145年のこちらの老舗、歴史ある趣を残しつつ、ご自身と夫山下達郎のグッズ販売部屋もあったりして、昭和生まれの私達を楽しませてくれました。This 145 year-old inn is owned by Mariya Takeuchi and has a nostalgic atmosphere. There is a room with a shop for herself and her husband Tatsuro Yamashita, who have entertained all of us who were born in the Showa Era.
