The Wisteria of Yuya 熊野の長藤

Last week I made a quick visit to Iwata to see the wisteria. 先週、磐田に長藤を見に行きました。

Usually there is a wisteria festival at the temple this season but it was cancelled due to the pandemic. 通常だと、この時期には長藤祭りが行われているのですが、今年はコロナウィルス感染拡大防止のためキャンセルになっていました。

When I arrived, there was nobody around. 私が到着した時には、人は誰もいませんでした。

The wisteria looked to be about 50% of the maximum length. 長藤は最大の長さから比べて、半分くらいの長さに見えました。

I was lucky to be able to take some photos without any people in them ... usually this place is crowded. いつもなら多くの人がいて、とても混んでるのですが、今日はとても空いていたため、沢山の写真を撮ることができました。

Some of the trees are 800 years old. ここにある樹々は樹齢８００年を越すものもあります。

There were many bees buzzing around, ignoring the social distancing rules. 数匹のハチが飛び回っていて、今で言うソーシャルディスタンシングをフォローしていなく。

I was stung on my wrist. Ouch! 私は手首を刺されてしまいました。痛っ！

As a side note, a painter from Mormiachi named Fuyuko Matsui used this place in one of her works. 因みに、森町の画家、松井冬子が手掛けた作品の一つにこの土地を描いたものがあります。
