The current corona virus pandemic is hitting our local economy very hard. 昨今の新型コロナウィルス蔓延で、私の地元の経済も大打撃を受けています。

Local stores, shops, bars, and restaurants have seen a dramatic drop in business. 地元の大型店舗、小売店、バー、レストランも売り上げが大幅に落ち込んでいるようです。

One of my favourite shops '凧人' has taken a double hit this spring ... the Covid19 virus problem and the cancellation of Hamamatsu Matsuri. 私の大好きなお店の一つである、凧人さんは、この春は二重の打撃を受けています…新型コロナウィルスの問題と、それを理由とした浜松まつりの中止です。

I visited the store today to pick up some beautifully patterned face masks ... fashionable and safe. 今日は、おしゃれでかつ安全のための美しいマスクをいただきにお店に伺いました。

I also bought a tenugui hand towel that can be made into face masks. また、マスクに出来そうな手拭いも購入しました。

If you buy a tenugui at the shop they will give you some elastic for the ear loops. 手拭いを購入すると、耳にかけるゴムもつけてくださいますよ。

Making face masks sounds like a very good indoor project for the current social distancing situation. この社会的な外出自粛の折、マスク作りも良いおうちプロジェクトになるのではないでしょうか。
