先日、島田市にあるお茶のミュージアムに行ってきました。I visited the Tea Museum in Shimada City the other day.
こちらは世界の茶の歴史や文化、日本と静岡のお茶産業について学べる博物館で、小堀遠州ゆかりの庭園と茶室もあり、とっても楽しみにしていました。I had been looking forward to learning about world tea culture and history, the tea industry in both Japan and Shizuoka Prefecture, and the garden and tea room designed by Kobori Enshu.
館内には、数えきれないほどの種類の世界の茶の展示と、トルコ、中国、チベットなどの国々の喫茶室が再現されていました。Countless types of tea from all over the world are displayed with Turkish, Chinese, and Tibetan tea rooms reproduced within the building.
企画展として現在「ヨーロッパの茶の文化」も開催中でした。A temporary European Tea Culture exhibition was also held.
ロシアや中近東で古くから湯沸かし器、給茶器として使われている美しいサモワールが、沢山展示されていました。Many many Samovars used as kettles and tea dispensers were also displayed.
アンティーク好きなコレクターにはたまらないでしょうね。Antique collectors will be excited to see these.
さて、こちらの博物館の魅力のひとつは、江戸時代の大名茶人である小堀遠州が、手掛けた茶室と庭園が再現されていることです。One of the attractions at the museum is a reproduction tearoom and garden designed by Kobori Enshu. He was a Japanese feudal lord and master of tea ceremony.
私たちは、縦目楼(しょうもくろう)と呼ばれる茶室でお抹茶を点てていただきました。We were served matcha tea in the Shomokurou Tea Room.
自分でお抹茶を点てて飲む体験もできるようですよ。You can make the matcha tea by yourself if you so desire.
お茶菓子は梅の花の形で可愛らしい「此の花」でした。The sweet we had was called Konohana and was in a cute plum blossom shape.
一番奥の数寄屋造りの部屋は、窓が多い珍しいつくりで、イベント等で使われるようです。The room in the very back of the building was a rare Sukiyatsukuri design with many windows and is to be used for events.
この他、茶摘み体験、手もみ体験、抹茶挽き体験など、いろんな楽しみ方ができるところでした。There are many things to enjoy like tea picking, hand-rolling tea, grinding matcha, and more.
この日は曇り空のため富士山はうっすらとしか見えませんでしたが、晴れの日には鮮やかな景色も見えそうですよ！This day was cloudy so we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji clearly but on sunny days you will be able to enjoy a great view!
