While driving around the mountainous part of Aichi Prefecture with some friends a few weeks ago, we came across this unusual display. 数週間前ですが、友人達と愛知県の山合いをドライブしていた時、この変わったディスプレイに行き当たりました。
So we stopped in to have a look at this huge rack of hanging icicles created from natural spring water. そこで私達は車を止め、自然の泉水を用いて造られたツララをぶら下げた、この巨大な棚を見てみました。
Apparently, someone constructed this large timber frame rack and was spraying it with the intention of making a spring water icicle display. どうやら、誰かがこの木製枠を創り、泉水のツララディスプレイを作ろうと、水を掛けたようです。
It sure was a strangely impressive sight. なんだか不思議に感動的な光景でした。
Many of the small trees and plants growing around the rack were encased in ice. 周囲の木や草も氷に閉じ込められていました。
They looked quite extraordinary too! それも、なかなかめずらしかった！
One small tree was completely covered in ice. 一本の小さな木は、完全に氷に包まれてしまっていました。
It looked like something from a fantasy movie but I felt a little sorry for it. なんだかファンタジー映画にありそうな感じでしたが、ちょっとかわいそうでもありました。
After 20 minutes we left without knowing who made this ice display or for what purpose. 20分程で、どこの誰がなんの目的でこのディスプレイを作ったのかもわからぬまま、その場を離れました。
Maybe it was a kind of ice art ... 氷の芸術作品だったのかなあ…
Anyways, on our way back to Hamamatsu we made another stop ... this time for ice cream. とりあえず、浜松に帰る途中で、我々はもう一箇所立ち寄りました…アイスクリームのために。
