Santa visited Hamamatsu on the 24th and 25th of December and stopped at PoPBunka! English School.
サンタさんが、12月24日から25日にかけて浜松を訪問。そして、我がPoPBunka! English Schoolにも来てくれました。

He left a present ... an 8-inch reflector telescope system.
サンタさんはプレゼントも置いていってくれました…8インチの反射望遠鏡。

Does this mean I was a good boy in 2013? Hmm ...
と、いうことは、2013年、僕は良い子だったってこと？ うーん。

Anyways, I noticed that the telescope is named after one of his reindeer.
それはさておき、この望遠鏡にはサンタさんのソリをひくトナカイの一頭にちなんだ名前がつけられているのです。

The modern style names for all of Santa's reindeer are as follows;
サンタさんのトナカイ達に付けられている現代風の名前は、以下の通り。

Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder and Blitzen.
ルドルフ、ダッシャー、ダンサー、プランサー、ヴィクセン、コメット、キューピッド、ドンダー、でブリッツェン。

The maker of the telescope is a Japanese company called Vixen ... very appropriate.
この望遠鏡は、ヴィクセンというとてもちゃんとしている日本企業が製造しています。

The word, 'vixen' is an anglicization of the Dutch word for lightening, as in thunder and lightening.
「ヴィクセン」という言葉は、オランダ語の雷を表す言葉から来た英語で、thunder や lightningと同じような意味です。

While I like the name, I prefer clear skies for astronomical observation.
名前は気に入ったけど、天体観測には雲一つない空の方がいいな。

Maybe next Christmas Eve we can use the telescope to watch Santa flying around the world.
来年のクリスマスイブには、この望遠鏡でサンタさんが世界を飛び回るのを見られるかもしれないね。

And when the weather gets warmer, let's enjoy looking at the stars together.
そして、あったかくなったら、一緒に星を見よう。
