Summer Trip Report 夏の旅行レポート≫

For my summer holiday this year, I went on a short trip into the Hokuriku area to visit some sightseeing spots. 今年の夏休みは、北陸の観光地をいくつか回りました。
Actually, I've visited most of the these places before but they're always worth seeing again. 実を言うと、今回初訪問の地はほとんどなかったのですけれど、何度訪れても、いいところはいいものです。
First stop was the sample food factory in Gujo-Hachiman ... the very first sample food omelette made in Showa 7 (1932) still looks fresh! 最初に立ち寄ったのは、郡上八幡にある、サンプル工房。昭和7年（1932年）に初めて作られたオムレツのサンプルが、今でも出来たてみたい！
Next stop was Takayama City where I stayed the night. 次は高山市に移動して、こちらで一泊しました。
Heavy rain didn't stop me from trying one of Hidatakayama Brewery's award-winning beers on the street ... and some of the famous local beef in a nearby restaurant. ものすごい雨にもへこたれず、飛騨高山の醸造所が作った受賞ビールを路上で…近くのレストランで、地元産の有名な牛肉もいただきました。
In the morning It was off to Kanazawa City and a visit to the Nomura Samurai House. 朝には、金沢市に向けて出発。武家屋敷跡 能村家に寄りました。
The house is relatively small but has an exquisite enclosed garden with gorgeous views from every angle. お屋敷はまあ小さめなのですが、どこから眺めてもとにかく素晴らしい庭園があります。
Next was a visit to the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art to see a show about Japanese art in the 1980s ... so so. 次は21世紀美術館で、1980年代アートを…まあまあ、かな。
If you go to Kanazawa, everyone always visits Kenroku-en Garden ... it's the city's main attraction and beautiful in every season. 金沢と言えば、みなさん兼六園には必ず立ち寄りますよね…街の見所ですし、どの季節でも美しい庭園です。
It was also hot as hell this summer season ... even the koi and turtles looked to be suffering from heat stroke. この夏はとにかく滅茶苦茶暑くて…鯉も亀もこの暑さにやられちゃってるみたいでした。
Kakigori is best to beat the heat and I was surprised that it was for sale inside Kenroku-en. こんな暑さに対抗するには、やっぱりかき氷が一番ですよね。でも、兼六園の中でかき氷が売られてるのにはビックリしました。
I was doubly-surprised that I could eat my unimpressive and expensive kakigori inside the very impressive Uchihashi Tei teahouse. 更なる驚きは、この何の変哲もない、でもお高いかき氷をいただいた場所が、すごく素敵な茶室、内橋亭であったこと。
After the garden, I rode over to the very busy Higashi Teahouse District and had an amazing fresh peach parfait. お庭を後にして向かったのは、東山ひがしの茶屋街。そこで、驚くほど新鮮な桃のパフェをいただきました。
Around the corner, I went into the historic Ochaya Shima geisha tea house and marveled at the unique tatami layout ... last time I visitied the mats were pink. すぐ近くのお茶屋志摩にも寄りました。お茶屋志摩は芸妓遊びをした場所で、特徴的な畳の置き方にびっくり…以前訪れた時にはピンクの畳でした。
On the way back to my hotel I stopped in at Oriental Brewing and had their award-winning super yuzu beer ... excellent. ホテルに戻る途中、オリエンタルブルーイングに寄り、賞を取ったスーパー柚子ビール「ゆずエール」を飲みました…素晴らしい。
Next morning it was goodbye to Kanazawa City and hello to the UNESCO World Heritage site at Shirakawa-go. 次の朝には金沢にサヨウナラ、ユネスコ世界遺産である白川郷にコンニチハ。
It was cooler in Shirakawa-go and the koi seemed more energetic. 白川郷は少し涼しくて、鯉ももっと元気にしてました。
It was my fist time to visit here and the gassho zukuri-style buildings are very stunning ... inside and out. 白川郷には初めて訪れたのですが、合掌造の建物がとにかくすごかった…中も外も。
As it's near harvest time, the rice fields are amazingly green ... the view above the village was marvelous. 収穫期も近いので、水田が青々としていて…高台からの眺めが最高でした。
Using the minivelo bicycles helped make visiting all these places much easier and quicker ... thanks minivelos! ミニヴェロのおかげで、それぞれの場所を楽に周ることが出来ました…ありがとう、ミニヴェロ！
