Have a look at the super cute kimono clad girl above.
上の写真の超かわいい着物の少女を見て。

She is just 6 years old and is taking part in a traditional Japanese dance festival.
彼女はたった6歳で日本舞踊のお祭りに参加している。

Very cute.
とってもかわいい。

She gave me some beautiful yellow, light and dark pink coloured orchids today.
今日彼女は美しい黄色と明暗のあるピンクの蘭をくれた。

For no special reason.
特別の理由もなく。

Actually, the girl is my student and of course is a little older ... maybe much older.
実はこの少女はボクの生徒さん。もちろんもう少し年をとった。たぶんもっとかな。

The above picture was taken in 1947 at the old Hamamatsu Zoo, which is now Hamamatsu Castle Park.
上の写真は昔の浜松動物園、今の浜松城公園があるところで1947年に撮られた。

In the background, you can see some of the old zoo administration offices.
後ろにある建物は動物園の事務所。

They are long since gone and the zoo was relocated out of town many years ago.
動物園はその場所を離れ、ずいぶん前に郊外へ移転した。

In the picture below, you can see the flowers that she gave me earlier today.
下の写真は彼女が今日くれた花。


These flowers are a type of orchids called 'Marilyn Monroes'.
この花は「マリリンモンロー」呼ばれる蘭。

I've never heard of them before but then again I don't know much about flowers.
ボクはその名前を聞いたことがない、まあボクはあまり花について詳しくないんだけど。

In their groovy little vase, they are beautiful.
美しい小さな花瓶の中で、この花は美しい。

I couldn't find any reason for why these orchids have been named after the American sexpot actress Marilyn Monroe.
どうして、アメリカのセックスシンボル　マリリンモンローの名前にちなんでいるかわからない。

After checking the internet, I found this famous pop art painting made by Andy Warhol.
インターネットをチェックした後、この有名なアンディウォーホルのポップな絵を見つけた。

This might be a stretch but is it maybe because the flowers and the painting have the same colours?
これはもしかして拡大解釈？花の色と絵が同じ色だから？

Who knows? ... they look great regardless.
さぁ、どうでしょうか。とにかく花は美しい
