This year I have been using my new motorcycle to visit some of the famous autumn foliage viewing sites in central Japan.
今年はボクの新しいバイクに乗って日本の有名な紅葉スポットを訪れている。
One of the best places in south central Japan is Kourankei in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture.
中部地方で有名な紅葉といえば愛知県、豊田市にある香嵐渓。
By bike, it's about an hour and a half drive along some very beautiful rivers from Hamamatsu City.
バイクで美しい川沿いを走りながら、浜松市から1時間半で着く。
Kourankei is located along a bend in the Asuke River and the riverside hills are full of mature Japanese maple trees.
香嵐渓は足助川の湾局部に位置し、川沿いの丘に熟した日本カエデの木々であふれている。
In fact, there are over 4000 fiery red, zesty yellow, and vivid orange trees scattered along the 5.4km river valley.
実際に4000以上の燃えるような赤、ピリっとした黄色、鮮やかなオレンジの木々が5,4kmほどの川沿いに点在している。
All of these beautiful colours are anchored down by the dark green hues of the coniferous trees.
この美しい色すべてに針葉樹の濃い緑がまるで船のいかりのように鎮座している。

I went to Kourankei by motorcycle so I was lucky ... I didn't have to wait in the super long traffic jam winding through the mountain road.
香嵐渓にバイクで行ったボクはラッキーだった。曲がりくねった山道に連なる超長い交通渋滞を待つ必要がなかったから。
Parking is limited in this small town, and the huge influx of visitors during leaf-turning season makes a frustrating visit for car users.
駐車場はこの小さな町では限られており、紅葉シーズンの大勢の観光客はカーユーザーにとってはイライラの素。
One of my students arrived around lunch time and reported waiting over 3 hours for a parking spot.
ボクの生徒さんの一人はお昼頃到着して、駐車場のためだけに3時間も待たされたってぼやいていたよ。

The day I went, there were thousands of visitors strolling around the place, myself included.
香嵐渓の周りに歩き回る数千人の人々がいた、ボクも含めて。
There were also lots of nerdy guys carrying expensive cameras with huge zoom lenses, again myself included.
巨大なズームレンズを搭載した高価なカメラを持つオタク達もいた、ボクもだけど。
This understandably busy atmosphere (we all want to see the leaves) made me wonder if there were more people or more leaves.
この想像以上のせわしない雰囲気（僕たちはみんな紅葉がみたい）から人と紅葉どっちが多いかなって思っちゃった。
Kourankei is otherworldly beautiful, especially when lit up at night ... my sister-in-law thought that my pictures were fake.
香嵐渓は別世界のように美しい。特にライトアップされた夜の景色は....ボクの義理の姉さんはボクの写真を本物と思わなかったよ。
She couldn't believe the vibrant colours on display ... but trust me, the place is even more beautiful in person.
彼女はディスプレイ上の鮮やかな色を信じることができなかった。でもボクを信じて、本物はもっときれいだよ。
If you've never been to Kourankei, it's definitely worth seeing.
香嵐渓に一度もいらしたことがないのなら、絶対に見る価値がありますよ。
However, the real mecca of autumn foliage viewing in Japan is Kyoto, which I'm hopefully going to visit next weekend!
