Dragon Fruits are in season now.
ドアごんフルーツが今旬です。
In English, Dragon Fruits are also called 'Pitaya'.
英語では、ドラゴンフルーツは”ピタや”とも呼び名もあります。
They are also sometimes called 'Strawberry Pears'.
また別の名を”ストロベリーピアズ”ともいいます。
Dragon Fruits are very strange looking fruits.
ドラゴンフルーツはとても変な見た目をしている果物です。
They are a shocking reddish-pink colour with little green fringed 'wings' all over.
Mine are white inside but other types are red inside and both have many tiny black seeds.
They are about the size of an avacado.
They also have laxative properties, so after eating one you might need to go to the toilet.
Maybe they're a good fruit for old people to eat.
I bought mine at MaxValue for about ¥260 each.
I ate one today and it tasted like a flavourless Kiwi fruit.
I think they look better than they taste and are a little disappointing.
Please try one for yourself (especially if your an old person).
