Last Friday night I was invited out for a little business drinking with potential client.

He is a very nice man, about my age, and is the president of a very successful international business.

We went to an upscale bar in downtown Hamamatsu, sat on some sofas, and looked at the menu.

He asked me if I wanted to have a drink from his private bottle that he kept in the bar.
彼がそこのバーでキープしているボトルを飲みたいか聞いてきた。
I said sure! Of course!

I'm sure whisky connoisseurs would appreciate it's smooth great taste, but it was agony for me.
ウィスキー愛好家がその滑らかな味を楽しむけどボクにとっては苦痛でしかなかった。
My esophagus and stomach were on fire.
ボクの食道と胃は火がついていた。
I felt like I was being disinfected and sanitized from the inside out.
殺菌されているみたいだった。内側から外側へ消毒されているみたいな。
This fine whisky was clearly wasted on me.
この高級ウィスキーはボクにはもったいなかった。
I have no ability to appreciate its unique qualities or extraordinary character.
ボクにこの比類ない品質と特性を味わう能力はないみたい。
However, I should also say that I do genuinely appreciate Mr. President for sharing his exclusive and expensive whiskey with me.
でも、貴重で高価なウィスキーをボクに分け与えてくれた彼には本当に感謝している。
It was an experience.
それは経験となった。
Of course, while my digestive system was burning up inside, I was all smiles and having a great time.
ボクの体内の消化器官は燃えていたが、もちろん笑顔で素晴らしい時を過ごした。
