WinstonとMarlboroアメリカのたばこブランドなんだけど、カウボーイのマッチョマンを広告に起用することで有名なんだ。

The Marlboro Man cowboy is one of the most famous icons in the world.
マールボロのカウボーイは世界でも有名なキャラクターの１つ。

Both companies often promote events in car racing or other motorsports.
両社とも、よくカーレースやモータースポーツで広告を出してるよ。

So I was very surprised to see this new Winston advertising campaign.
で、このWinstonの宣伝広告を見てものすごく驚いちゃった。

It shows a very muscular, bald guy wearing very skimpy clothes.
ハゲたマッチョの男性が、ちっちゃな服を着てる。

He looks very gay.
なんか、すごいゲイっぽい。

Actually, super-gay.
というか、ハード ゲイっぽい。

It's a kind of anti-Marlboro man image.
恐らくは、マールボロのカウボーイに対抗しているんだね。

I guess the message is that if you smoke Winston cigarettes then you can be a gay muscleman too!
きっとこの宣伝に隠されたメッセージは、Winstonのたばこを吸ってあなたも憧れのゲイ・マッチョになろう！みたいな。

Will it be successful? Who knows...
売れるかな？どうだろう...

But I think that this type of campaign would never happen in the USA.
でもこういった宣伝広告は、アメリカ本土で使われることはまず無いと思う。
