I saw this a few weeks ago and only now have posted it.

Last month the actor who was the voice of Mickey Mouse died.
先月、ミッキーマウスの声をしていた声優がなくなりました。

So I was reading the news report about it.
それで僕はそのニュース記事を見ていたのです。

I googled some keywords like 'Mickey Mouse' and 'Japan'.
「ミッキーマウス」や「日本」といったキーワードをインターネットで検索してみました。

I came across some old photos of the Showa Emperor & Mickey.
僕は、昭和天皇とミッキーマウスの昔の写真を偶然見かけたのです。

So I investigated their circumstances.
それで、昭和天皇とミッキーマウスの状況を調査してみました。

In 1975, Hirohito visited America on a grand tour.
1975年に、昭和天皇は、アメリカを巡遊中でした。

At a party in Los Angeles, he met John Wayne.
ロサンゼルスのあるパーティーでは、彼は、ジョンウエインと対面したのです。

Apparently, Hirohito was a fan of the actor John Wayne.
明らかに、昭和天皇は俳優ジョンウエインのファンだったんだな。

While he was in Los Angeles, he visited the original Disneyland.
彼はロサンゼルスにいる間、元のディズニーランドを訪問しました。

The Emperor was given a Mickey Mouse watch by Mr. Walt Disney.
ウォルトディズニー氏に、天皇はミッキーマウスの時計を貰ったんですよ。

It was said that he treasured the watch very much.
天皇はその時計を宝物にしたといわれています。

When Hirohito passed away in 1989, he was buried with the Mickey Mouse watch.
天皇は、1989年に亡くなられたとき、そのミッキーマウスの時計と一緒に埋葬されました。

Also in his casket was a list of sumo champions, some copies of his scientific publications and and old German microscope.
また、彼の棺の中には、大相撲優勝力士のリストと、彼がした科学研究の出版物のコピーと、古いドイツの顕微鏡もありました。
