It was fun!
本当に楽しかった！

My favourite cocktail was the Caesar.
シーザーは、気に入ったカクテルでした。

It's made with Clamato juice, Worcestershire sauce and tabasco.
クラマトジュース、ウォースターシャイア・ソースとタバスコで作ったんです。

We also made the Blue Hawaii in a Tiki Mug.
ブルーハワイアンというカクテルを作って、ティキマグに入れて飲んだんです。

How very Hawaiian!
とってもハワイっぽがったよ。

Now I am enjoying washing glasses.
今、グラスを洗うのを楽しんでる。

マイケルジャクソンが亡くなりました。

I makes me feel sad.
悲しくなりました。

I know he had many problems in his later years.
後年、彼は、たくさんの問題を抱えていたことは知っていましたが、

But he was the biggest star of my generation.
僕の世代の一番の大物スターでした。

I grew up with him.
彼と一緒に育ったんです。

I decided to make available my Christmas shopping wish list early this year.
今年始めに買い物のショッピングリストを作ることにした。

These are some items I want for Christmas or anytime actually.
クリスマスに、まぁクリスマスでなくてもいつでも欲しいんですけど、いくつかほしいのがあるんですよね

The first is this bicycle seat sofa.
一番最初は、この自転車座席シート。

It is made from 59 recycled brown leather bicycle seats.
59枚の茶色の革をリサイクルして作ったものです。

Very beautiful.
とても美しい。

いい革は、使ってもきれいです。近くでみるとよくわかります。ざんねんながら、コンピュータではわかりません。というのが、私の見解です。  

I went to a very famously expensive department store.
僕は、高いので有名なデパートに行きました．

While I was looking around the food section in the basement I noticed these fruits.
地下の食料品コーナーを見て回っている間に、
このフルーツに気づきました。

Can you notice anything CRAZY about them?
なにかすごいことに気づきません？

They must be $ooooooooooo delicious right?
（値段に見合うだけ）相当美味しいはずだよね？そうじゃなくって？






*Yu's Note*
最後の対訳に関して、言葉が汚くて、ごめんあそばせ。
right? は、日本語の「だよねえ？」に相当します。念を押したり、
確認し相手に同意を求めるときに、"...ぅらィ？"

must ...「〜なはずだ、〜にちがいない」
mustは、「〜しなきゃならない」と、「〜に違いない」の二つの意味があります。
その否定は「〜してはならない」must not (mustn't)と、「〜のはずがない」cannot (can't)
例えば、I must go. 行かなくては。

Applications must be submitted by tomorrow.　
申込書(Applications)は明日までに提出しなくてはいけない。

He must be Otaku.
彼、おたくにちがいない。

You must be dreaming.
あなた、夢を見ているに違いない。

He cannot be Tom Cruise. He is tall. Tom Cruise is short. 　
トムクルーズのはずがない。彼は背が高いよ。トムクルーズは背が低いでしょ。

It must be true.
本当に違いない。

It cannot be true.
本当のはずがない。

Hurray! I finally got my Tadao Ando lecture ticket today!
イェーイやったー！　今日、ついに、安藤忠雄の講演のチケットを手に入れました。

It came in the mail.
郵便で来たんです。　

I am pretty excited to meet the living architectural legend.
僕は、建築界の生きる伝説に会えることに、かなりワクワクしてるんです。

The free lecture is going to be held the first Saturday in July.
その入場無料の講演会があるのは７月の第一土曜日で、

It's a working day for me so...
僕はその日仕事なので。。。

... I will have to call my boss and pretend I am sick.
。。。上司に電話しなきゃ。病気のふりをしてね。

Maybe it will work ... or I could tell him I have urgent family business.
多分うまくいくんじゃないかな。。。そうでなかったら、家族の急な用ができたと言えばいいしね。

Another choice would be that I am in the hospital.
（講演会に行くための上司につくウソの言い訳の）もう一つの選択肢は、入院している、というものとかね。

I will think of a good story to tell him.
彼に言うためにうまい話を考えておくよ。



PS> I have noticed that Mr. Ando never smiles in his photos.
It's a kind of Japanese oyaji style.
If I had his job, I would be smiling everyday, all the time.
So I decided to give Mr. Ando the smile he should always have.
He looks more happy now...  

カクテルクラスが、２７日にありますが、
この前のカクテルクラスでは、このような手順で、
カクテルを作りました。


  

I decided to have a cereal taste test.
シリアルのテイスティングテストをすることにした。

Which bag of snacks would taste the best with milk?
どのパッケージ袋のお菓子が一番、牛乳とあわせて美味しいのか？

So I went to the ¥100 Store near my place and bought some different "Caramel Corn" and "Mugi Mugi' types...
そいうことで、家の近くの１００円ショップへいって、いくつか数種類「キャラメルコーン」と「ムギムギ」を買ったんだぜ。

Then I ate them with milk.
それで、牛乳と食べたんだよ．

Actually, I ate all of them in the same night.
実際のところ、キャラメルコーン全種類とムギムギを一晩で食べちゃったんだよね。

They were all pretty good.
全部、おいしかったよ。

But my favorite was the regular Caramel Corn in the red package.
だけど、僕が気に入ったのは、赤いパーッケージ袋に入っている
普通のキャラメルコーンだね。

It reminded me of a cereal I used to eat when I was young.
小さい時食べていたシリアルを思い出すんだ。

It was called Capt' Crunch.
キャプテンクランチ、っていう名前でね。

Almost the same taste and also not very healthy.
味はキャラメルコーンと殆ど同じで、キャラメルコーン同様、あんまりヘルシーじゃないけど、

But yummy...
おいしいんだよね。。。



This is the cereal I used to pig out on when I was young.
これが、小さいときにがつがつ食べてたシリアル。

Maybe most people from North America know it.
多分北米エリアのほとんどの人は知ってる。

It tastes very much like Caramel Corn and is very addictive.
キャプテンクランチは、味がキャラメールコーンによく似ていて、やみつきになる。

There's a new hamburger place in town!
Downtown!
It's called Boss Burger and it's on Mall Gai near Ogiya Yakitori.
We had a business lunch there yesterday.
Taste pretty good!
The Boss Burger sauce is excellent.
The first picture is Yu with her business lunch face.

街の、新しいハンバーガーやさんです。
町中なの！
ボスバーガーという名前で、モール街の焼鳥屋扇谷の近くにあるんですよ。
味はかなりいいよ！
ボスバーガーのソースはすばらしいものがある。

Some of the students at PoPBunka! attend SUAC.
SUAC means Shizuoka University of Art and Culture.
One of our SUAC students is studying product design.
He designed this very clever pencil!
He won a Kokuyo Design Award for it!
I think it is very cool!
Hopefully we will be able to buy them in a store soon!
Good job J-san!

We had our MondoVino! wine class last Saturday night.

PoPBunka! MondoVino! ワインクラス

It was episode number 9!

This class was special because we were tasting the wines of a very famous Italian vinter named Gaja.

We had 6 wines; 2 whites and 4 reds!

All the wines were excellent but I liked the last 2 best.

The last bottle cost ¥20,000 so I don't think I will be drinking it again anytime soon...

Thanks to everyone who came!

We drank 6 wines by Gaja and had a bottle of Braulio herbal liqueur.
  

I saw this hanging poster on the JR local train.
JR在来線のこの吊り革広告を見ました。

It is supposed to look like an American campaign poster.
ポスターは、本来、アメリカのキャンペーンポスターにそっくりということになっているのですが、

It's a reasonable facsimile.
まあそこそこの複製だね．

The original American poster was used in 1917 to recruit during WW1.
もとのアメリカのポスターは1917年第一次世界大戦中に徴兵募集の為に使われたものです。

Many variations have been made for all sorts of things.

最後のポスターは、「煙たいくまさん」

This poster has been used in another famous campaign since 1944.
このポスターは1944年以来、もうひとつの有名なキャンペーンで使われました。

The campaign was to reduce the number of forest fires.
山火事の件数を減らすキャンペーンでした。

The slogan was, 'Only You" can prevent forest fires.
『「あなただけ」が、山火事を減らせるんです』というスローガンだったんです。

In a recent study, 95% of those surveyed could finish the sentence when given the first words.
最近の研究では、調査をした95％が、最初の単語を出されると、文章を最後まで言ってしまうのです。

The anti-forest fire campaign has been very successful.
山火事キャンペーンのアンチ（反対派）は、大成功に終わったんです。

Anyway, you can see that this poster format has a very long history.
とにかく、このポスターの形式は、とても長い歴史があることがわかるでしょう。

This is 'firefly season'.
Some people say, 'lightning bug season'.
In Japan, we say 'hotaru no kisetsu'.
When I was younger I used to catch fireflies in a jar.
You can see 2 kids doing the same in this home movie.
It was filmed on a summer night in New York State.
Very nostalgic...

もう蛍の季節ですね。
"光る虫(lightning電光、雷a bug虫)の季節"という人もいます。
日本では、”ほたるのきせつ”といいます。
小さかった頃、蛍をつかまえて、瓶の中に入れていました。
このホームビデオでは、2人の子供が僕の小さい頃と同じことをしています。
夏の夜にニューヨークで撮ったものです。
ノスタルジックですね。

  

I ate a double cherry last monday!
It looks like something but I can't think what.
The cherry was from Yamanashi Prefecture.
My student gave it to me.
Is a double cherry lucky like a four leaf clover?
Hmmm.... I wonder.

先週の月曜日、つながってダブルになっているさくらんほを食べた。
何かみたいに見えるけど、このさくらんほは山形産です。
生徒のかたから頂いたんだよ。二つ実のさくらんほは、
四つ葉のクローバーみたいに運がいいのかもね。

In English, we call a very bad actor a 'ham actor'.
英語では、とても下手くそな俳優のことをham actor といいます

It means an unskilled actor who overacts.
大袈裟な演技をする下手な俳優という意味です。

In Japanese, a 'ham actor' is called a 'daikonyakusha'. 日本語ではダイコンヤクシャという。

Most ham actors are action movie stars.
大根役者の大半は、アクションスターです。

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Steven Segal are 2 famous ham actors.
アーノルドシュワルツネガーとスティーブンセガールは有名な大根役者です。

Maybe the most famous ham actor is Sylvester Stallone.
もっとも有名な大根役者なら、シルベスタスタローンだろうね。

About 15 years ago he came to Japan to make a TV commercial.
15年程前に、彼は日本に来てテレビコマーシャルに出たんだけど。

It was a perfect match for Sylvester Stallone.
これは、スタローンにはパーフェクトな組み合わせだよ。
