I would like to introduce Italian Cardinal Giuseppe Mezzofanti.
イタリアの枢機卿「ジュセッピメゾファンティ」を紹介したいと思います。

He was born in 1774 and died in 1849 and he was a 'hyper-polyglot'.
彼は1774年に生まれ、1849年に亡くなり、彼は'ハイパーポリゴロット'でした。

A 'polyglot' is a person who can speak several languages fluently.
'ポリゴロット'とは、数カ国語を流暢に話すことができる人のことです。

A 'hyper-polyglot' is a person who can speak many many languages fluently.
'ハイパーポリゴロット'とは、たくさんの言語を流暢に話す人のことです。

Cardinal Mezzofanti could speak 38 languages fluently and forty different dialects.
ジュセッピメゾファンティは、38の言語を流暢に話し、40もの方言を使いました。

And the most crazy thing... he never traveled outside of Italy.
そして最も驚くべきことは...彼は、一度もイタリア以外の土地に行ってはいないということです。

If he could speak all these languages, it must be easy to learn only one other language right?
彼がこれらの言語を話すことができたのならば、たったひとつの言語を習うことは難しいことではないはずですよね？

This is a crazy Christmas turkey story from England.
これは、イギリスの「クレイジークリスマスターキー」のお話です。

A farmer made a Christmas turkey from 12 different birds.
ある農場の人は、12羽の鳥からクリスマスターキーを作りました。

Each bird was put inside the other, from smallest to largest.
個々の鳥を小さい鳥から大きい鳥へと、中に入れていきます。

12 birds in total.
トータルで12羽の鳥。

The weight was about 25 kg.
その重さは、およそ25 kg。

The turkey had about 50,000 calories.
そのターキ−は、およそ50,000カロリーもある。

It took over 8 hours to cook.
調理時間は、8時間を超える。

It cost over ¥50,000!
値段は、¥50,000！

Wow!

In Manhattan, the doll is now sold out. Some people say that

Christmas has many traditions;

singing Christmas carols and giving presents.

Another tradition is for kids to have their picture taken with
Santa Clause.

I broke my iPod Nano yesterday. I am very sad.
When I got out of my car, my iPod fell onto the small
space at the bottom of the door.
When I closed the door, it got squashed (ひしゃげる、ぺしゃげる).
Now it is a piece of ART.

PS> Santa please give me a new iPod also... and the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. おながいします。

  

I will start another diet. I tried the popular 'Banana Diet". But slowly it changed into a 'Tokyo Banana Diet'. The 'Tokyo Banana Diet' is very delicious. But it is not a very good DIET.

So, I will start a new diet. A 'Very Mini-Donut" diet. Eat one very mini-donut in the morning, then eat a regular meal for lunch and dinner. Finish the last meal 4 hours before bedtime. I will try this...

Does anyone have any diet advice for me?

Dear Santa,

This year I have been a good guy. Almost. Maybe Yuki has a different opinion. But please don't listen to Yuki Santa. For my Christmas present I would like a new Canon EOS 5D Mark II with battery grip and EL 24~105 IS USM zoom lens. Please check the pictures. I know some children in the world are very poor and need food or other things. But Santa, I really like this camera. I will take some nice photos and send them to you. Please Santa, give me the camera!

PS> I also need the Canon EX580 II Flash.
